8:11 I love Claudia's impression of Alanis Morissette, if that's what she's trying to do. Also I think "rain on your wedding day" _is_ ironic, in the context that you've done all that planning, beginning months or longer in advance, and tried everything you could to make sure every single detail of the event would be just so and it would be your "perfect day", and then it goes and rains. Also in the context that you think the rain is a problem, like at an outdoor wedding. If the rain wasn't disruptive to the event as planned, it wouldn't be ironic.
@AlexaFaie8 күн бұрын
That would just be misfortune, not irony. For it to be ironic for it to rain on a wedding day it would've had to have been preceded by a long period of dry weather, possibly a drought during which one or both of the wedding couple have proclaimed how much it really needs to rain, how desperate the plants are for it etc. But no rain comes for days/weeks on end. Then it gets to their wedding day, the one day they don't actually want it to rain & the skies open & it pours down.

I suspect the people on "Praise the Lord" were worried about was having wasted their lives. They had a nationally syndicated television show, they had a viewership across the country specifically tuning in to hear what they had to say, and instead of using that opportunity to make a positive change, to talk about finding solutions to real problems in the world -- or just sharing lasagna recipes, anything at all constructive -- they were so starved for importance that the best use of their time as adults that they could think of was to play rock & roll records backwards while listening for anything that sounded like an excuse to get angry.
