Taylor has been saying for many years his son is an amazing drummer..and I mean since Shane was very young. He's been playing tiny little drum kits right behind his dad, out of sight, during shows, playing big kits during Foo Fighter sound checks, and playing actual shows in clubs for his dad's other band with Dave Navarro. Of course there's nothing like what he went through here, but he's been dedicated to drumming for many years, grew up with rock stars and playing in front of people, so he's been preparing for this moment his whole life. He's going to have an amazing future.

DG and the Hawk were the greatest drummers their era had ever seen. People can argue and say Ulrich or Portnoy or any other drummer was up there with them but, at the end of the day, those Foo Fighter boys are kings of the drumming world. Good on Shane for putting in the work and holding back what had to have been a sh*t ton of emotion to put on a great tribute for his father.

The passion in Shanes eyes and drumming really got to me,and taken into account that he is still grieving and the pressure he probably put on himself, really wanted to make his dad proud of him (if he somewhere, somehow is able to hear it in a non physical existence) I would be lying if i said i saw this through without breaking. Especially the sign of "frustration/anger" at times in Shanes passionate drumming....we know how kids and teens react like,as we have all been there. Everything feels unfair,we are angry at whatever took them away from us and so on.... im sure he got alot of buildt up frustration/emotions out of his system by going in on thoose drums the way he did. And of course his proud mom at the end struggling not to keep tearing up.... i have felt many losses on my mind and body already, and i never get used to them. So i know his pain, that entire familys pain. I dont know if Dave is Shanes godfather, but i must admit he truly several times showed quality as being one that had given Taylor a promise to look after his son,the way he several times takes quick peeks back to make sure Shane is looking okay up there. And the joy on Daves face towards the very end where they are closing it together. A tear jerker for sure,im speaking as an old Nirvana supporter,so i have been with Dave for a long time. I remember when the news hit about Taylor,i was in a few music streams on Twitch. And one multi instrumentalist in particular tried to continue his performances, but he had to cut the stream short. Because quote "I think i need to go somewhere else and cry, have some drinks and ....i dont know, watch alot of Foo Fighters videos on KZbin". It was such a impactful, shocking & special day. All of us in chat gave him our understanding and blessing to cut the stream short.
