This was actually my Favourite Deck from the Precons 😄 i think we shouldnt always look at how to make the Decks super competitive but also at how good the flavor and fun is. And for me this seems to be the most flavorfull and most fun experience out of all the precons. And Competitive enough with a couple upgrades.

Don’t sleep on Prized Pig! With him and Sam out, all your food tokens are free. Even if you don’t have any saved up it’s 2 mana per turn with Sam out.

This deck has been wrecking everyone in pods with the other Tales of Middle Earth decks. It was insane how good this deck was compared to the rest.

I think with a few changes in direction, it can turn into something more similar to Dina. There's a lot of one-sided boardwipes for little guys and a ton of things that can drain your opponents like Marionette Master (which you can buff even more). Get rid of the random Treefolk, focus on draining life and turboing the Ringbearer to deal 3 every turn. Have a couple extra Ring effects so even if Frodo dies you can keep doing it. It seems like a bunch of odd little benefits that can indavertently add up to a lot of value. You have card draw, filtering, healing, food production, direct damage and elusiveness across 2 bodies that can come out early. Looks like a super solid place to start for me, except the toxic deluge which seems like it would hurt you more than anyone else, since it will 100% kill almost if not your entire board (though I appreciate the reprint and will swap that to another deck).

Agreed, one card that gets really powerful is: Agent of the Iron Throne, you have both frodo and sam out and easily you could get 3 or 4 foods sac out for somethin like 6 or 8 damage to all opponents

Honestly have been waiting for an abzan life gain commander. I have my whitherbloom deck and my silesnia life gain deck and always thought they would be perfect as one deck.

This is the precon im most excited to upgrade/play out of the box. It looks so fun and i have alot of ideas to brew around them i love parter with as a mechanic

This is my favorite deck of the 4 and it has won every single round of commander played with the pre cons. I'm honestly just going to keep the precon as is, and only change the mana a bit.

Prize pig isnt going to be worth any money, but in any given life gain deck its going to be untapping ATLEAST once each turn. If you can untap it twice or more in a turn, its generating a lot of mana value.

Prize Pig would absolutely go in a Perrie, the Pulverizer deck if you had a consistent means of lifegain, since Ribbon Counters are new. That said, it doesn't get those counters unless you gain life, so it will probably be ignored.

With the amount of things this deck can do, im pretty sure its chalked up to upgrades and skill level. With ringbearer damage and drain effect upgrades, this deck can pump out passive damage like no other, and with card advantage too!

Also i love that this precons focuses on lifegain and not as much "food" as you'd think. Which means the commanders facilitate lifegain strategies bc of their colors and openness to iteration

I mean I got up to 27 halflings from this set and the D&D sets (not including changelings) They're pretty cheap to cast so doors of destiny and coat of arms seem viable. Kindred summons with the halfling token generators and whatever halflings you've already cast could put a lot of halflings onto the board

wow wait, the prize pig is great. it ramps and fixes for two, which is already great value compared to other other dorks (the only better rate is birds) and then also offers a synergistic ability tht essentially allows you to use an additional timein a given time for every food youve consumed.

Agree. And i like to hear someone not hyping up the LotR products. I assume your title refers to the deck as a precon ("Not a great start...") but might perfectly also characterize the whole precons set. Looks that this was already the overall best precon (value-wise, maybe not play-wise). Keen to see your vids about the other precons.

@spacecoconutmtg I think it can set up insane turns in the deck if you get a massive food creation spell off then pop them all with the tree folk guy it can chunk people and if not it's a subpar mana dork.

In the deck you win 6+ life consistently each turn, which means the prized pig would generate at least 3 mana a turn or more depending on the board state, you can also save the counters from previous turns for a big turn later, i see this as a staple mana dork for any life gain deck that can put it in
