FYI I ran 36 lands and 12 pieces of ramp in my deck - sometimes you just get unlucky with land drops. If someone else wants to calculate the likelihood of me missing a land drop after drawing so many cards, please feel free to do so. But need I remind you... t's a feature, not a bug people!!!! -jimmy

I think deck builders are over valuing mana rocks and dorks over playing more lands. Yes, the ceiling is high when you can continue to hit your land drops and get ahead on mana, but many times in game if you miss that next land drop, then that other ramp piece was effectively a land. However rocks/dorks are easy to remove and they usually happen to get caught up by sweepers, putting you behind.

It seems pretty efficient if you can get the card draw on top of the scry, I guess I'm more worried about sustaining long enough to get the counters up high enough to win. Maybe adding some indestructible like Mithril Coat will help. The main combo I'm trying for is getting "Elrond, Master of Helaing" (commander) and "Arwen Undomiel" capatlizing with "SeedBorn Muse" as my win conditon. I found a great engine to add in is Fathom Mage, Shortcut to Mushrooms is a good engine using The Rings Card draw if u can tempt it high enough, Raise of Palisade seems like it'll be great removal. I'm going to experiment with "Three Rings for the Elven Kings" trying to copy counters and scry with that.

On Jimmy's Overwhelming Stampede, Jacob had a Sauron trigger, he could have sacrificed his tapped Orc Army to scry and create another Army token untapped to block, and as Josh played a spell to flicker Jimmy's token, Jacob's Army token would have been a 2/2 so he could have survived that turn.
@yoda9240 Жыл бұрын
You're right! I thought of the sack to have an untapped army, but didn't think it would save him. I forgot that Josh cast a spell so it would have been large enough to leave him at 1. Too bad he didn't know that Josh would cast that spell.

@@yoda9240 i'm referring to the trigger from Jimmy's overwhelming stampede. If Jacob had remembered that and sacrificed his current army token to create a new untapped one, Jimmy would have attacked differently to ensure lethal damage. Anyway, Josh blink spell actually wouldn't have mattered as he only cast it after blockers were assigned.
@yoda9240 Жыл бұрын
@@Kindaichi83 The way Jimmy attacked, it still would have killed Jacob if he had 1 more power on the board, he needed 2 more power to survive, therefore Jimmy may not have attacked differently. If Jacob blocked with everything and Josh casts his spell after blockers are declared then Jacob's army still gets buffed and Jacob then has enough toughness among his blockers to live. That is what we are talking about.

1:04:50 Could Jacob have sacrificed his orc army to the sac/scry creature then made another orc to save himself? Or is it not a zombie anymore so he wouldn't gain life from the Overseer giving it lifelink?
@26ffs Жыл бұрын
it wouldn't have helped him, 1st he would sac the orc/zombie token to get a new one off Sauron, but the new one wouldn't be a zombie, 2nd, the Overseer gives menace and hexproof not lifelink 3rd, if he had done it on the overwhelming stampede trigger, he would have landed on 1 additional blocked damage which would still kill him (he was at 32 life, 44 damage was coming his way, and even with this additional token he would only be able to block 12 dmg so he would still die) and he couldn't have known Josh had a response to the attacker coming his way. technically an argument could be made that this would still be the correct choice, as it would have meant no one would have been able to cast a spell in response without him surviving (because of an additional +1/+1 counter on the army) which would mean josh couldn't kill the token coming at him, without saving Jacob, though he would still be at 1 with 2 more opponent turns Edit: I had been thinking about ways he might have survived as well xD

@Argusthecat from Tolkien himself. "In principle, I object as I strongly as is possible to the "translation" of the nomenclature at all (even by a competent person). I wonder why a translator should think himself called on or entitled to do any such thing. That this is an "imaginary" world does not give him any right to remodel it according to his fancy, even if he could in a few months create a new coherent structure which it took me years to work out. I presume that if I had presented the Hobbits as speaking Italian, Russian, Chinese, or what you will he would have left the names alone. Or, if I had pretended that 'the Shire' was some fictitious Loamshire of actual England. Yet actually in an imaginary country and period as this one, coherently made, the nomenclature is a more important element than in an 'historocal' novel. But, of course, if we drop the 'fiction' of long ago. "The Shire" is based on a rural England and not any other country in the world - least perhaps of any in Europe or Holland, which is topographical wholly dissimilar. The topology of The Shire, to take the first list, is a 'parody' of that of rural England, in much the same sense as are its inhabitants: they go together and are meant to. After all the book is English, and by an Englishman, and presumably even those who wish it's narrative and dialogue turned into an idiom that they would understand, will not ask of a translator that he should deliberately attempt to destroy the local colour."
