Chris Carter the best was los Olvios. Just FYI they will let you customize your plates. I had them add shrimp to my steak.

Livin' It any other recommendations for the hotel itself? Is it easy to get to a stretch of sandy beach?

Chris Carter there are two buffet at the resort, we like eating at the one by the lagoon because of the view, and it was less crowded. As for the walk to the beach they have roads that lead strait to it. Super easy, and they have golf carts coming around to give you rides all around the resort if you don’t want to walk. Have fun, it’s a great place.

We went in 2019 on Halloween. The buffet served great food and the small “ grill” in the corner makes fajitas, tacos, enchiladas etc. from day to day. If there was# one complaint it’s the beach. It’s kind of small and clearly man made. That being said, the sand is spotless and the lagoon is amazing for swimming, wading and snorkeling. The “ buffet “ at the beach is nice although on day 3 of our trip my wife got something there during breakfast that had her spending 24 hours near the bathroom. The jewel in the crown at the Occidental at Xcaret is that it’s right beside the Xcaret Park. I highly recommend doing the underground river and returning to the Occidental to have an early dinner then going back for the “ show “ at the stadium at the Park. Bring a paper fan and some water as it’s hot in there but the show was one of the best I’ve ever seen. We befriended one of the staff at 5he main buffet I may butcher his name but ( Ahuitio??? ) but he had one of the best answers to my wife’s question of whether he was married, “ Donna……. I’m happy….. of course I’m not married. “ with a big smile. Had the honour of walking up to the top of the pyramid at Coba which apparently is no longer allowed. That was one from my bucket list, I’ve always wanted to climb up the stairs of a Latin pyramid and lay down on the sacrificial platform. We just came back from 10 days at Neuevo Vallarta and it was good but not comparable to the 7 days at the Occidental at Xcaret.. Only one other negative at the Occidental. Checkout is at 11:00 am but our transportation to the airport in Cancun wasn’t until almost 3:00 pm. We had to pay I believe it was $60 American each so w3 could use the washroom and have lunch.

I think the food was above sub-par. Out of all the place I’ve been it was pretty good for an all inclusive. But if your expecting a Gordon Ramsay restaurant then it will be sub-par.

Great video! I’m planning on going with my wife and are about to pull the trigger on this. Just a question if we want to go to the parks and only the the all inclusive package do they come at a decent discount? Also what can you use the resort credit for?

GgAboveAverageGamer if you upgrade your room to a suite it come with all inclusive access to the park. It will say which rooms come with a discount in the room discount. The resort credit is like a coupon book. It’s kind of a joke not really a resort credit. They have people at the resort that will reprints all the different attraction in the area. you can buy pass at some what of a discount price from them, but not much better than you will get at at the park.

I’m debating between the Occidental and Hotel Xcaret. Hotel Xcaret appears to be way more expensive. In your opinion, is the Occidental a nice place to stay or would you have rather paid more to stay at Hotel Xcaret?

Hotel Xcaret is on my dream list of hotels to stay at, but the price is crazy expensive for me. You are paying for unlimited access to all the parks. That being said, i think Hotel Xcaret will be a lot better to stay at, but if your can't afford it Occidental was in my top 3 hotels I've stayed at in MX. @@LivinIt OK perfect!! I always book through Costco and the price right now for a 6 night stay in October is $6,200 for 3 people including flight. I’m thinking of going for it! 😃 I checked the Occidental as well and for the upgraded room and the package for the parks it came to like $4500. I figure if I’m going to be spending thousands, I might as well go for the gusto right! Lol 😂

Food is decent. I wouldn't call it "low quality". Definitely not the best but Definitely not the worst. Overall I wouldn't let the food here scare anyone away from staying.

Marisol Diaz we don’t do a lot of drinking. But they were cool. I think they opened around 10am and closed really late. They were still open when we went to bed around 11:30pm

There’s a “ disco” but we only had @ few drinks at the buffet or the small bar at the beginning of the path that runs down to the beach.

It’s right beside the park not just “ near it “. It’s a short easy walk along the man made canal or there is a small “ raft “ that can take @ few people to the gate.

Were there any restrictions on how often you could eat in the a la carte restaurants? I heard that this chain only allows you to eat in the a la carte restaurants a few times per stay.

There were a couple a la carte restaurants. You could eat at them more than once but you had to make reservations and it they booked up fast. We are at all of them but the Mexican one while we were there.

If you like snorkeling, hanging out on the beach, nature, and going to the parks (Xcaret, Xel-Ha, Xplore) this place is perfect, because it right in the middle of the parks and the snorkeling and beach are some the best that we have seen in MX. As for entertainment (shows, water park at the hotel, or day activities) I felt like this hotel was a little lacking. But we were fine with that because we had an unlimited pass to Xcaret, and we love the beach. Hope this helps!!!

We just got back from Occidental and had the Unlimited Xcaret Xperience pass and it was amazing. We were at xcaret park every day and it was so easy to get back to the hotel to fuel up eat great food, have a siesta catch a buzz then go back to the park. Every day we did a different part of the park and found new things to do even on day 7. Best vacation ever!

The Learning Channel it was part of the room we got at the hotel. If you got a Jr suite it came with bracelet for everyday we were at the resort.

I just came back from Occidental Xcaret.....the food is PATHETIC. I have never had worse food in an all inclusive. Buyer beware! Breakfast was by far the best meal. There is a server called Luis Medina who is amazing. You could not find a more gracious server. Many of the staff are in the other restaurants and bars are as well very good but Luis stood out. The hotel lacks consistency in every aspect. There were never enough beds by the pools. No chairs either. Music as usual too loud. We did enjoy our stay but will not go back.
