Feeding Britain is a charity that helps to tackle food poverty in the UK. The Key Community Bus in South Shields offers an affordable mobile food service and is part of the Feeding Britain network.
Feeding Britain is one of three charities supported by the Times and Sunday Times Christmas appeal this year. It runs 350 “food clubs” across its 85 regional networks, helping people on low incomes to access healthy and fresh food and stretch their budgets further.

What a brilliant idea as there will be many people who don't like the idea of Food Banks as it makes them feel like they are begging. Whereas this, people pay for items at a reduce cost, hence giving them a sense of pride and dignity.

Very sad this is an old man who needs help shame on the uk government letting the decent, legal and british people down people need to speak up, make demands and protest. Alot of working people those with a mortgage for one family house or those who are renting are the ones who need help as they get no benefits even though they are working hard while the freeloaders get all the help especially the imported ones. It is sad as most people will have paid there taxs but when they need help no one is there much well done to these sort of people who are trying to help.

I truly admire our citizens' generosity. Our government should be ashamed as they are exploiting us citizen's generosity. We, who pay so much tax while they dont do much about the food costs. They keep claiming that they are helping the cost of living. But why do we still struggle to buy food, as prices are still on a high. And yet they spend our money easily to help illegal immigrants while our citizens are struggling to bring food to the table, heat their home and to keep their home.

This amazing wee bus, supported by such wonderful people, offers everything these dear folks would need. This supports them not only in maintaining their dignity, but it also gives them an opportunity to build relationships & friendships. As well as, provides excellent food products at a reduced cost, enabling folks to have healthy meals at much better prices, which are more affordable for their budgets. Brilliant! They charge at or below cost and then there is cost of maintenance and fuel for the bus, even if all the staff and driver are volunteers, the program still needs funding to operate. Good change of pace though, 3-4 miles away to a food bank may not seem like much, 5 minute drive, but with no transport that can be 2-3hr walk there and back. Especially hard for the elderly or with disabilities and has to carry the items back.

Although it’s hard to see struggle, provisions like this shouldn’t be left for the crisis. The supermarkets waste so much food, good quality food and therefore whether we have high inflation or not, that food should be available to those who compromise quality of their diet because of life-changing events such pension, illness, loss of job. In some Nothern countries this is in place regardles- you got something extra whether business or individual, pass it to those who need it more. Love this concept and we distribute grants for the projects like this. If there is one thing that say is positive about pandemic is that the businesses, funders and communities started to work more together and food provisions are more effective in collaborations with the chain markets etc. Shame is that initiative does not come from this government. there is lack of regulations on the waste of food by the businesses. Not even food, but also other products. These people do the real hard work to make a change.
