You know why people come up to you to say hi? Because you guys are super open minded and respectful! That's especially important in Laos because us Lao people are so reserved and easy going. You may have heard Lao people say 'ball pen yang.". It means (loosely) "no big deal".

@@tiashiraz8430 maybe it's just my pronunciation of it. I don't say the 'r' sound in bor. I say it as ball or boh. I feel like there's not many Lao words that end in the 'r' sound. At least I can't think of any. Either way. I like how they're saying sabaidee and kop chai. Shows they're trying the basics lol

Food Monster I get what you mean. I most commonly see it translated into Roman alphabet as bor, but it’s not really either an ‘l’ or an ‘r’ sound. I just think it is hard to represent in our letters. It is always nice to see people try at least some words of the language of the country they are visiting. 😆👍

My grandfather, not by blood but he raised me was born in laos and fled during the khmer invasion to canada.. We always planned to go together to laos but he passed 2 years ago. RIP papa Sy :(

That’s het nang lom ( Oyster mushroom ) or het nang fah ( Fairy mushroom ) both is the same. The farmer in Laos. They planted mushrooms in plastic bags in a small cabin. “Some farmers planted with straw” Thank you for traveling to Laos ຂອບໃຈ/khorp jai. It's Heuan Chan Heritage house down a side street off the main road, we would have never gone there either if it wasnt for the festival. So many surprises on the streets of Luang Prabang!

When you pass the Palace's front, about 50 m you have a a small walkthrough passage on the left. About 20 m first you will see a typical Luang Phabang family house (a museum available for visitors), a "Sene" lived there with his family. The next building is the mentioned Heuane Chan house, where a "Phaia" had been living. The "Phaia" were the king's direct servants, like today's administrators. The "Sene" were also king's servants but lower in the hierarchy. They used not to serve in the Palace just only on any kind of kingdom's events.

Hello! We came to Laos in February before the pandemic was a problem. Since then Laos has closed the borders so you cant leave or enter if you're a tourist until further notice! Hope this helps
