I might be rich by the standards of the rest of the world but I am a middle class American that most rich folks would consider poor. This system however is investing in our future so I did that instead of investing in my retirement account for a few years.

@@earthrepairian333 My wife and I are getting ready to spend the new few months living out of our RV, looking for a place to live. Wherever we end up, we will be as off the grid as we can be. Having never built a home with this kind of intention, I am not sure where to start? Simple projects on where to make the biggest impact as well as foundational projects that absolutely SHOULD be don't first when efficiency is a priority.
@earthrepairian3334 жыл бұрын
@@Anthony-Collova the soil is key. The biomass available is important too and can help with building more soil. Also the contour of the land is integral as well. Water flow, sun path, wind, noise and rainfall amounts are all important aspects as well. Let us know what you find Anthony!

@earthrepairian3333 жыл бұрын
Well it's a long list of course but veggies wise it's across the full spectrum but we try to stay with less water hungry crops as opposed to things like corn which require a lot of water. With fruit trees it plums, peaches, pears and cold hardy orange varieties. Black and boysen berries and of course Mulberry's are super prolific. What have you had luck with in Kerr County?

We helped install the Festival Beach Food Forest in Downtown Austin on Lady Bird Lake. I believe that 2.0 will be starting soon and they are always needing volunteers. Let us know if you ever need any design or build help as that is the area we have been concentrating on hence the reason it has taken me so long to respond to your message. Thank you for your kind words and follow! Carpe Diem!

I love what you're doing. I'm down in Victoria. I have a 1/2 acre market garden and I grow and sell organic (non-certified) veggies. I just turned 60 a couple weeks ago and will probably get to retire in a couple years. I'm currently in negotiations to purchase 38 acres with my brother. We will be reclaiming land that is being mono-cropped using conventional agriculture. The plan is to create a permaculture food forest and raise grass fed cattle, chickens, pigs and turkeys and possibly a catfish pond. I subscribed so I'll stay in touch. My mother-in-law lives in Canyon Lake so maybe I can come visit if you're open to the idea.

This is very cool but have you tested your rain water? I ask because I don’t think the rain is as free from chemicals as you think it is. I really like this project.
@earthrepairian3337 ай бұрын
Yes we tested and it is pretty amazing. I think a lot depends on the direction of the wind etc. I do know that "acid" rain from industry can show up that is for sure but the Texas Hill Country as of now is one of the cleanest places in Texas even though that might not be saying much.
