"Definitely question things before you put them in your mouth!" - by far this is the quote of the video for me 😁. Great stuff mate, binge watching the few recent ones as I've a bit behind again haha. Definitely agree with you on the whole literature / skill books and recipes though, on one hand I absolutely love all the new clutterature (maybe that should be a new loot table name!) as some of them are an absolute boon when you can't find enough smokes and start freaking out or just get well sad from the zombie situation, but on the flip side needing recipes for literally everything now really makes it difficult when those useful ones are often replaced by the other books. Even when I checked the Rosewood school library I found was junk books, I get that having some paperbacks and general reading books in school libraries but to find no skill books at all was a right kick in the wedding vegetables, I'd upped the loot to 0.75 on everything and it does seem a bit better for other things so hopefully it'll fix the books too! On the side note of the vehicles, I haven't played with this much vanilla in a long time but I've been having an absolute blast using the Animated Vanilla Vehicles mod, it's blown my mind how much extra depth it's added to the game being able to leave doors, boots and bonnets opened and even makes that audible ignition dinging noise so much more satisfying!
@Vulrhund3 сағат бұрын
Haha sometimes my brain works faster than my mouth, words just appear :D It's the most frustrating thing isn't it! I like it but it absolutely needs it's own loot table, clutterature is definitely fitting! It's the only thing I'm having a bit of frustration with so far. Think the rarity of most things is nice, food is a bit of a struggle but completely understandable, tools being the same but the books, library's should have far more available! I'm sure it'll change in time but I'm too impatient to wait :D I wish they added the ability to leave parts open! Just having the visual there is a game changer, like forgot to close my door or moved to fast and it didn't close? Give me the visual! Left the boot open so my stuff is now flying down the road? GIVE ME THE VISUAL! I've never played with a mod of it I'm just wishing it was here

I’m a new project zomboid player with less than a 100hrs before build 42 dropped, so was quite happy to learn a big update was on the horizon as soon as I started playing! I started in echo creek a day before I found your play through videos and it’s been a massive delight as I didn’t want to spoil anything for myself, and it’s almost like we are doing the exact same thing, I seen the fun store the day before you did, and yesterday I ventured a bit south and stumbled upon the farming store that you went to in this video, it’s been perfect as everything you are doing I had just done slightly before so not spoiling anything for myself! Love your videos, only down side is, I’ve watched the entire play through and have to wait til tomorrow for the next video!

The animal troughs fill up insanely quick, like illegally quick, when it rains. I don't know if it will stay like that after updates or when the stable version comes out though.

Yet rain collectors will fill maybe a couple of liters in the heaviest storm. Stuff it, make troughs, not collectors.

Just something I think you will find helpful. First for skill books I find more books in storage units, then schools and last libraries and houses. Knowing how u like using knife as weapon for me using rocks as weapons feels like it without the cheek stab, is short blunt, low stamina usage and low fatigue and last i think you'll like is that you can take bottles out of water dispenser.
@Vulrhund2 күн бұрын
Oh nice man thank you! I'll definitely go track down some storage units for sure! I do love a short blade, I'll definitely check out the rocks. I've been pretty much strictly short blunt lately just because they're so abundant but I would love to start branching out. Got the water bottle off too, just in time for the water to run out, game changer!

Personally, with the new lighting effects, I consider a house with a fireplace essential. Especially after power goes out having a nice large roaring fire with the new ambient lighting is going to be the coziest of places. Also, I have been hearing some real crazy large fish stories in the new build. Someone said they had one fish so big only a large fireplace could cook it whole, even the largest BBQ couldn't hold it.
@Vulrhund2 күн бұрын
Oh you’re absolutely right I didn’t even think of that, permanently place to cook and a perfect light source. Think riverside is the new top town! No way really? I’m so up for this I need to dig out the fishing rods quickly! The rabbits seem to be a little more abundant and like perfect sized now which is good, slow and steady aye
@Retro-Iron112 күн бұрын
Probably me. :) Others have been mentioning not being able to fit fillets as well, so they are also catching these giant fish. Yep, fireplace is the only way to cook them. I was determined to cook these things so explored all the options at the time. Fireplace was it. For bait I was using beef. I tried more fishing with foraged grubs and stuff and only caught more "regular" sized fish.

@@speurtighearnamacterik8230 Actually I just discovered another way. I just got into a food place and the really big industrial ovens, the two side by side are also large enough, the same as a fire place. They do require electrical 3 to move though.

Hahaha honestly couldn’t have come at a better time :D you are welcome! If you still need a sheet for anything, there was one in the bathroom of the house next door, i think. You could cover up a kitchen window maybe or use it in crafting. Also, does the new workshop system let you build doors with windows? I noticed the garage doors have windows that prevent the garage from being dark in the daytime, which is quite nice 😊. Excellent quest for the hatchet, Gavin, well done.

For farming forget crops. Besides being bugged to all heck they are just a total pita to even get one vegetable from a harvest. At standard settings you NEED to compost the crops and to get compost you need to build or find a composter and add food to it, so net negative already unless you use found rotten food and you also need to fertilize them to "add health" to the crops. To have any chance at farming crops you have to remove the seasons option and increase the farming speed to pretty high rates. They even stopped giving me agriculture xp. The crops I'm getting lucky on I'm just harvesting seeds from the vegetables anyway. Maybe that could be a bug where I'm not getting agriculture xp, getting the seeds from found or grown fruits/vegetables instead of from packets. Thank you for testing out the bug on the water dispenser I mentioned. It isn't just me. Running over game, I found they damage the car just like hitting a zombie does. I got full frontal damage just accidentally hitting a rat.
@Vulrhund2 күн бұрын
Oh really? That is strange, I'm going to give them a go regardless just to see how it handles, can't break the old habits just yet! I found a bunch of farming books too so it'd be a shame to waste them. The seasons are cool though, gets it a little more realistic especially if you survive multiple years. All good on the water bug too, thanks for pointing it out! Sucks about the car damage though how weird, I'll have to keep an eye when getting some heavy rabbit roadkill
@Drie_Kleuren3 күн бұрын
I changed crafting xp to 3x and kept everything else at 1 I also feel like skillbooks should get their own loot table. But on the other hand, I felt like skillbooks etc etc were too common in b41. Now it's rough. Maybe something in between works best. Because in b41 you went into a book store and you found like 60 skillbooks. Now you may find like 10 or something.
@Vulrhund2 күн бұрын
I quite like the 1x that’s fine it’s just the skill books, think you’re right on them having their own table though. Yeah I adjusted it to a try bump up the numbers a bit and it feels nicer, way less clutter which is good. Build 41 there were just waaaay too many that it wasn’t really a struggle but this has gone to the other end of the spectrum it’s a tough balance!

Not sure I like the lightning system, in terms of how pitch dark houses are, even in the middle of the day.
@Catonzo3 күн бұрын
I play CDDA so I haven't actually experienced powered towns or homes yet. I have only had cars with somewhat poor headlights.. but even so it seems VERY annoying that they only light up essentially 5-6 meters ahead. It makes driving in the middle of the night an absolute nightmare. A car light generally lights up at minimum 20-30 meters ahead, with the long distance lighting doubling that at minimum. I assume this has to do with the lighting system. It's just numbers game really. Adjusting that should be fine.
@winyonzentrada2 күн бұрын
@Catonzo Yep, I reckon I've heard they gotten the feedback and most likely are looking into it, adjusting and tweaking. If not, there will always be mods. Now that the system is in place. Just like in Minecraft there are new mods that add particle rain, dust storms and whatnot.
