Don't try it with a ladle at home. You can also burn a ladle. I recommend a coated pan. We have the same street candy in Bangladesh too. Here it's called "Kotkoti". It used to be so popular. The hawkers would take old stuffs like old clothes, pots, pans, papers and in exchange give this candy to the children. our parents always tell us stories of them exchanging old stuffs from their home to get this candy. It's still pretty popular in villages but in city it's not seen at all.
