Once you get your basics right any dish shouldn't be that big of a challenge.

This is a nightmare it’s hard to watch most of these people, it’s just sad, food is life so it’s heart breaking to see people like this ruin good food. It even makes you wonder if they ever truly lived and had good food.

That is the neat thing, the only food they experienced is chain restaurant food and the frozen stuff from the supermarket reheated at home. There was nobody near them to walk them through proper cooking and usually lack the basic equipment (saw rentals that were not equipped with a working stove/oven, but had a double-door fridge/freezer and wide counters with a microwave in the corner).

Me and my little brother (5 years old btw) made avocado toast yesterday and even he was able to use common fricken sense to remove the pit. Hey I have a funny story. It was about 15 years ago and as a Korean family we happened to encounter an avocado for the first time as a gift. All we knew about it is that it was ‘healthy’. The avocado was unripe, but we didn’t know that. It was 2008 and the internet was not that widespread for cooking guides and whatnot. So we tried our best to eat (?) it. We tried the fruit but it was hard and rubbery so we thought it was a very thick peel. We figured maybe people ate the center pit, so we boiled it and tried to eat it. But it was terrible. So we reasoned again and thought maybe the ‘peel’ was the fruit afterall, it just has to be cooked. But it was not good. So we just wondered what kind of fked up fruit this was.

A lot of these have to be actors. How could people be that bad? Has this show ever done one with famous people against each other? That would be pretty funny. Even Paris Hilton with her fancy kitchen, brand new appliances and utensils, and great production filming didn't make her cook any better, but it was hilariously entertaining and she knew it would get views regardless if she could actually cook. I'm sure they would get some serious ratings having well-known people trying to cook against each other.

Apparently from what i read (i have no source to link to as i don’t remember where) the personalities of some are hammed up, or they will pick some odd ball contestants for entertainment purposes, but the cooking is all real. I also read in that same place that the chefs do give some cooking training in between challenges so they can get better.
