In this video, we’re going to talk about the best foods that can potentially help you avoid a miscarriage.
Keep in mind that there are no studies on this. Research on prenatal vitamins shows that they do not prevent a miscarriage. I believe the reason for this is because if your diet isn’t correct going into a pregnancy, synthetic vitamins aren’t enough to restore nutritional balance.
It’s important to prepare your body ahead of time with nutritional foods.
80% of miscarriages happen in the first trimester. The cause of a miscarriage can be due to genetics or epigenetics. Epigenetics can be influenced by nutrients, stress levels, and other lifestyle factors.
Other potential causes of a miscarriage include:
• Ectopic pregnancy
• Infection
• Chronic health issues (like diabetes, autoimmune disease, or high blood pressure)
• Fibroids
• Smoking
• Alcohol
• Drugs
• High caffeine
• Seizures
• Problems with the umbilical cord
• Mercury and other chemicals
• Pesticides
The best things you can do to potentially prevent a miscarriage include:
• Cut out carbs (go keto)
• Lower your diary
• Go organic
• Increase healthy fats
• Consume lots of leafy greens
Instead of taking a synthetic vitamin prenatal, make sure you take a natural food-based prenatal.
Here are ways you can get different nutrients:
• Folic acid: dark leafy greens
• Vitamin D: Sunlight, cod liver oil
• Vitamin C: Vegetables
• Vitamin E: Seeds, nuts
• Omega 3s: Fatty fish
• Trace minerals: Seafood
• Vitamin B3: Turkey, tuna
• Amino acids: Eggs, fish
• Fats: Grass-fed butter, olives, olive oil, cod liver oil

I had 7 miscarriages that could never been explained as babies were genetically perfect and I was always living very healthy. My doctor recommended me to go paleo and it fixed the problem. My friend, who is suffering from hashimoto illness, had 4 miscarriages and went AIP and now is having her second baby. Another friend went keto after two miscarriages, and she delivered healthy girl. I believe that there’s something in carbs that can create problems

I had two miscarriages and didn't do these diets. I wish I did. But I got a midwife and she opened my eyes to all kinds of herbs and acupuncture. If it weren't for the acupuncturist I would have had a premie baby. I was able to have my baby at home. Glad I didn't go with a doctor.

Anyone reading this that is pregnant I highly recommend bone broth with veggies and pink Himalayan salt, this really helped with that pesky nausea but hungry at the same time issue. For me personally I realize the more carb consumption the more prone to nausea throughout the day. I have a feeling pregnancy nausea is directly correlated to blood sugar levels

I just lost my baby. I know, hands down, it was because I got out of the eating patterns I was in. I lost 85 lbs because of keto. I was suprised but so happy to be pregnant. The baby stopped growing at 6 weeks. I was heartbroken. I was advised that carbs were good for the baby so I ate carbs. I will not make this mistake next time.

I'm actually Kevin's wife. I think some sort of spectrum disorder (similar to autism) runs in our family on my dad's side. I had IBS and blood sugar issues when I was pregnant with my 2 kids; nearly blacked out in Walmart in my 2nd trimester once. Traditional doctors couldn't find anything wrong with me, of course 🙄. Now I'm 53, my 19 year old son is high functioning but still on the spectrum and my 22 year old daughter is recovering from diabetes/fatty liver because we're all on low carb and got a lot of help from doctor Berg. Wish I had known 25 years ago what I've learned in the last 3 years.

I was ketovore when I got pregnant at starting at 6 weeks preg I was repulsed by all of those foods. I am currently 10 weeks in pregnant and eating nowhere near enough protein and way too many carbs but it’s all I can stomach. The nausea is unbearable and when I eat too much meat I vomit. Morning sickness is cruel and unusual. The foods I know are healthy for my baby I want NOTHING to do with.

I have to disagree with some things. My mother-in law gave birth at age 46 , she had multiple fibroids was obese, diabetes type 2 and she had a normal Pregnancy. Me in the other hand , I had 3 miscarriages I’m healthy , I’ve done every single test possible and all test came back normal. I don’t have any medical problems, no uterus issues either. I said to myself, I can’t have any children , but a unhealthy woman can? I just gave up, and I do appreciate all the free medical advice , but this I must disagree with. Thank you Dr. B

Longtime Dr. Berg fan here- I have come to believe most Americans have no idea what a good diet looks like. A friend of mine works in a facility for older folks where residents get insulin shots followed by sugar cake. Come on! Thanks to Dr. Berg for steering me in the right direction with a truly healthy diet. I am 64-years old and take no prescription meds. On low carb diet, duh. I wish our medical system focused more on diet rather than treating symptoms with pills that generally cause even more health problems.

The keto diet will help that. I had allergic reactions to the pills and I tried 3 different ones. They put me on high blood pressure medication too. With the prevalence of infertility and miscarriage this is a great message. Diet is so important, not only proper nutrition but avoiding allergens and inflammatory foods. I am pretty sure i had a miscarriage because i was craving cereal and caved into some that had wheat as an ingredient, even though I know I am allergic to wheat...! I think it created enough inflammation to cause a deficiency amd that the baby did not develop appropriately for my body to keep it gestating. A few months later and without any wheat and I am now 4 months into a very healthy pregnancy with no worries about miscarriage.

Hey jacob! I’d recommend cutting out carbs and sugar. Replace carbs with veggies. If you usually eat a sandwich, you can replace the bread with dark leafy greens, and turn that into a good salad. Add foods and such that you enjoy and make it taste yummy. I’ve found that good quality foods taste the best, make me feel the best, and are the best for you. Its hard when you’re a teenager to be in charge of your diet and what gets purchased at the store. I’d encourage you to talk to your parents or caregiver about your concerns and present to them your plan on what foods you would like to buy. There’s a lot of other factors that can affect your weight, but i wouldnt worry about buying pills or anything. Just turn your favorite meals into a salad, meaning omitting carbs, and that should help a lot. Give it a couple months to see really good results. Pay attention to how the foods you eat make you feel. Take your time, be patient with yourself, and pay attention to how food makes you feel. Wish you all the best! Hope this helps

Once we lose weight is it old fat cells that are accumulated in the past? Which still might've poisoned ingredients from earlier nutrition diets? Or the human body is all the time replacing old cells with newer ones and there are no toxins in the fat cells that are being used once we go through a healthy diet?

I've always felt that high caffeine was a contributing factor to such high rates of miscarriage in the US. With such an affluent country and access to basically everything to create the right environment to grow a baby, there had to be reasons why so many women young and older are prone to this. On the other hand, you see women in third world countries with multiple children without the access to the same plenty.

It is stupid hard to find a pre-natal that has a decent amount of what you're supposed to have. I found a good one, but it's 3 capsules a day plus I have to take extra omega 3 for the DHA. Taking that many pills still triggers my now ultra-sensitive gag reflex. It's worth it, because I have a lot of food aversions which makes eating anything, let alone something healthy, pretty hard. The good news is my glucose seems to still be okay and the baby seems to be developing very well, and I've only gained 3ish pounds in 26 weeks (was overweight prior to getting pregnant -- midwife is happy with the weight gain thus far).

I had two miscarriages. Stress caused by doctors is outrageous. My husband got me into having a midwife and it was an eye opener. My midwife teamed with an acupuncturist. On my third try I was pregnant and had a healthy baby. If it weren't for the acupuncturist I would have had a premie baby. I wish I would have known more about healthy eating. I thought I knew enough.

Its more common after multiple pregnancies due to tgecweufgt if the baby. You can do exercises to help it but having a strong core prior to pregnancy Nd continuing to work out is probably the best way to prevent it.

Dr Berg as much as I really like a lot of your videos, would have been better if you had reframed this into ways to be healthy before you fall pregnant etc. many miscarriage es can’t be prevented and women already carry so much guilt that they did something wrong (when in fact they didn’t). Healthy babies are born in famine and war zones all the time so high stress isn’t always a factor. This is a touchy subject and many women won’t even know the reason they miscarried so would be better to inform women of healthy choices rather than saying xxx causes miscarriage.

If women already eat very healthy but don't take enough B3 there is still a higher chance to have a miscarriage? I heard you saying that a lack can really cause it. It's interesting that no gynecolog speaks about this vitamin. Can you tell me more about it ?
@user-uj9sf6ye5b
@user-uj9sf6ye5b Жыл бұрын
The research that claimed B3 could prevent miscarriages (and also a specific genetic cause of birth defect) is fairly recent. By 'recent' I mean maybe 5 years back if I recall correctly. Outside of B12 and B6 I haven't seen many of the more popular prenatal brands add it to the list of ingredients and of course, more research is still being done on it. But I agree with your comment, more obstetricians and Midwives should be talking about this and many other topics as well.

So staying away from sugar (not pregnant atm, had 3 miscarriages not on this diet, but currently changed my life to it a month ago, I do have a healthy baby girl though so I do believe the miscarriages were from vitamin deficiency, diet, and genetics) anyone have any suggestions for the glucose test to avoid the sugar basically an alternative so you can take the test?

I avoid sugar as well. I'm 17 weeks & a former sugar addict. Full blown. I use a lot of honey & when I'm rly craving something sweet ill eat the plant based sweedish fish or dark chocolate on rare occasions. I have little desire for sugar which is inFknSane bc I used to live off sugar & vodka at one point lmao Now I'm on a plant based / keto Diet. Little carbs n sugar n tons of plants lol It's made a huge difference. But honey is great
