It's been a long 10-hour day and I had some sammich bread going stale and some cherry tomatoes going bad and what to do? Long day in the pay shack (10 hours OMG) and too tired to make dinner so I made this. Wow. Perfect summer salad so easy. Everyone else is partying but I am working! I'm the bathroom fairy! I make sure the showers / toilets are spic-n-span! No one has to risk having no TP when I am working! Hehehehe ;) Chef John you are my hero! ~ hugs ~

I agree, I'm prediabetic, (have been forever), and 3rd stage kidney disease also, which is hard to control. I could never get away from the prediabetic condition. And, people, please don't recommend anything keto, because all it does is makes me seriously sick. So I'm constantly trying to find recipes that I can use to eat decently without completely destroying what I have left of my kidneys.

If you have to cut out salt, replace with fresh, frozen or dried herbs, experiment to choose. A different taste but will not be so bland. You do get used to it.

Drink acv, apple cider vinegar, with water and tomatoes or anything that is acidic. It will improve acid reflux because acid reflux is caused by too little acid in the stomach. Only eat good fats like olive or coconut oil, not vegetable oils. I hope that you feel alot better soon. God bless you.
@jeanniebrooks Жыл бұрын
Yes, you can get rid of acid reflux. I thought it was forever. (I was actually hospitalized for the consequences, ulcer, and thought I could not consume vinegar and other acid foods/bevs) First taper off any antacids and stabilize. Then start introducing apple cider vinegar. They were right. You can cure it.

25:22 I had tomatoes that were very ripe and nothing to do with them. Roma and regular tomatoes. I cut them up, put them into a blender. I added garlic, fresh basil and salt and pepper, set the blender on puree and ran it until smooth. Put it into a saucepan and brought it to a boil. Made some spaghetti and had one of the best tasting sauces I ever made. 1:03:05 First time I had this was in Greece. Who thought eggs could taste so good.

I have a large, hook over pan, stainless steel fine sieve which has a removable turning handle to push food through sieve by flattening with wooden paddle and scraping with blade against sieve. This serves me as a normal sieve most of the time but is really useful for fine sauces (tomato, berries etc). It's called IPAC TAMIS À COULIS if you're interested

Tomato skins can be dehydrated and then ground into a powder. Use the tomato powder to sprinkle on a variety of foods for added flavor. It can also be used in recipes in place of tomato paste to thicken up sauces.

As far as transferring the tomato tart to a cooling rack? I'd rather lift it up, using a cookie sheet pan (with only one raised side). Myself, using a spatula (one or two) WILL result in a disaster!😱 Trust me! Just trying to flip over a grilled cheese sandwich, without the whole thing falling apart, is nothing short of a miracle! 😖🤣
