My son and I was supposed to spend the summer learning this song. He was a drummer and I was a on guitar. My 12 year old son Tristan Van Lu passed away on 3/22/23. He was the best drummer I have ever met, he was my hero. I rocked this song out at his funeral, it was the last time I will ever touch a guitar again. Played until my fingers bled my boy!. I love you so much my son, my best friend I will never forget you and will never stop missing you my son....

"There goes my hero. Watch him as he goes..." That line. I will never listen to that line the same ever again. The lose of Taylor Hawkins, the drummer and the beating heart of Foo Fighters, was truly tragic. No matter how good of a replacement they may find, you'll never really be replaced. He was an ordinary man to some, but a true hero to most. Rest in peace, keep on rockin' Taylor.
@hihi26672 жыл бұрын
Hawkins didn't even play drums on this song, grohl did. I absolutely agree he was a crucial component of Foo fighters for as long as he's been part and dave might not even try to replace him, he might just quit music as he said Kurt's death almost made him do. But Foo fighters succeeded before Hawkins, it's not like John Bonham where his death absolutely caused the cessation of the band because he was a key component of the bands success from its inception.

Dave grohl is the FOO FIGHTERS. He invented them and all the music first inception. But he found Taylor by the second album and HIS drumming became the sound we know as the FOOEYS. @@kevindunn2663 yes he wrote it with him being in mind but as time progressed he thought it was better suited to tell people it was a song about heros. Hes literally is just embrassed and thinks it's tacky he wrote it with Kurt in mind initially. It kinda grew when he found he was able to apply the meaning to other people or heros he knew. But I've read from magazine articles and statements from guys who worked with Dave in the studio and they all say they know it's about Kurt they kinda just don't talk about it. Nevertheless Dave has admitted it to several people "off the record" no pun intended. To me that makes the song even sadder cause he's so humble and it's so personal to him he can't even admit what has long been suspected anyways

He is simply a fucking legend :-) and to think if Kurt hadn't shot himself we wouldn't have had Foo Fighters, silver linings eh?

To think, he was once called the "Phil Collins of the 21st Century" and that's like, the perfect analogy to describe him.

*Lyrics* Too alarmin' now to talk about Take your pictures down and shake it out Truth or consequence, say it aloud Use that evidence, race it around There goes my hero Watch him as he goes There goes my hero He's ordinary Don't the best of them bleed it out While the rest of them peter out? Truth or consequence, say it aloud Use that evidence, race it around There goes my hero Watch him as he goes There goes my hero He's ordinary Kudos, my hero Leavin' all the mess You know my hero The one that's on There goes my hero Watch him as he goes There goes my hero He's ordinary There goes my hero Watch him as he goes There goes my hero He's ordinary

Seeing Shane play drums on this song at a tribute to his dad was heartbreaking yet heart warming. When they wrote his song all those years ago they couldn't have dreamed just how significant this song would become. RIP Taylor

5 years ago, I was watching this clip, and now I'm a FireFighter. because of this clip, it’s so surreal to think about it and watch that clip again today. Tks Foo fighters, because of this song I saved lives today.

@@tonyarc9455 I’d like to see you try to be a firefighter. Try to run into burning buildings and save people, he was also a medic, had 4 kids, and worked for 6 days straight at the station then came home with another job on the side. Thanks for your ignorant comment that disregards the dedication of actual firemen. Do it yourself and don’t be ignorant.

Everybody loves a hero. People line up for them…cheer them…scream their names. And years later, they’ll tell how they stood in the rain for hours just to get a glimpse of the one who taught them to hold on a second longer. I believe there’s a hero in all of us…that keeps us honest…gives us strength…makes us noble…and finally allows us to die with pride, even though sometimes we have to be steady and give up the thing we want the most - even our dreams.
