Oh yes. He handled the bulk of the Elvis songs, and he was great at it. You've probably seen Santini singing "It's Now or Never", charming a beautiful young lady in the audience...while her boyfriend(?) looked on with an impatient smirk(lol). We all know that she would've been better off with Dr. Scott Powell😊.

I saw them in September 1974 in Memphis. I was 18. Over the years I saw a lot of great concerts and I enjoyed seeing these guys as much as anybody else. They were some seriously talented people. I think they rivaled the original artists on a lot of songs they did.

They never could accuse us of taking ourselves too seriously after looking at this "Great Pretender" choreography. Once the TV series re-defined us from rock group to cartoon, I always thought we had more in common with "Hee Haw" than any other TV show.

When I was little, I knew of Sha Na Na, but, to my child's eyes, they looked like they were ready to do somebody harm, or at least to mug and rob someone. The tv show made them a lot easier to enjoy, and I'm still a fan today.😌

Santini was my favorite to watch in concert, especially in the early days........I loved the way the band looked after one another to set up the next song.......that took a lot of practice I am sure, not to mention the choreography of each song. One of the problems with the TV show was the choreography paled in comparison to the concert choreography. I am sure it's because there were so many songs in a short time.......but for someone who had never been to a Sha Na Na concert in person, well, they are not seeing the full genius and power of the "Greatest Show on Earth"!

Vocally, Santini is a good imitation of Elvis, but I like Johnny's versions better.
