I think XD is supposed to look exactly like dream lore-wise. A lot of people portray him looking like an eldritch horror, but Techno says "why does god look EXACTLY like you" when he shows up in the cell, George notes the striking resemblance, and dream seems shocked when XD appears because of how similar they look.

For the statue sword you could have a heart of the sea for the centre of the Sword, have a glass circle in the centre of the sword and then just make a heart of the sea.
