You're correct! I thought I had put Griffey in there, but apparently I only had him on the .800 OPS / 2k hit list. The Kid went back-to-back in 1993-94, and also had five straight seasons from 1996-2000. I will pin this comment so everyone can see it.

I remember one year (fairly sure it was 2012) where Andrew McCutchen won a Gold Glove in center despite having a pretty bad season fielding-wise, but he hit really well, and Clint Barmes hit horribly but fielded really well and didn't win at shortstop. The awards aren't biased at all! /s

Honestly, the Yankees just have an Outfield dynasty in general. Look at all their Right Fielders: Babe Ruth, Roger Maris, Reggie Jackson, Dave Winfield, and now Aaron Judge. That’s also crazy. They probably have stronger CF’s, but still. LF isn’t as impressive for them. But Rickey Henderson, Charlie Keller, and Roy White aren’t a bad weak link either.

I'm a Cardinals fan and don't much care for the Yankees - but I have to give them their due. It's not just deep pockets that fueled their success. Come on! Lou Gehrig was a New Yorker and Reggie Jackson admired the organization at a distance. Of course they have the money but they have a history of getting the right people at the right time. Not just players: front office talent, management, scouts, development personnel. Just a smart organization that usually knows how to capitalize on its opportunities. Sure, they let Willie McGee get away - but how often has that happened? Baseball wouldn't be Baseball without the Yankees....

@@RetepAdam As an adult in the 1990s and watching a lot of baseball, I think Bernie was the 2nd best player on the team , behind Rivera. He batted in the #4 slot, as a switch hitter who played great defense. I don't know the saber metrics stuff, but I personally saw Bernie get to line drives in the alley that looked like sure extra base hits and rob guys all the time. his speed was a serious defensive advantage. Another interesting fact, in the 2003 WS loss by the Yankees, Bernie led all players in avg, HR and RBI (wasn't a lot of runs, but still Bernie led both teams)

It's like being a dominant FG kicker. That's why Mariano has a lower WAR than Dave Stieb despite his WAR surpassing all other one inning closers by a mile.

He did have a good amount of 2 inning saves over his 19 year career, but nowhere near the all time leaders, and again, Saves are bad stat.

Great video as always...one minor mistake in the video. Bonny Mercer didnt patrol yankee stadium in 1974..the yankees played their home games in shea stadium in 1974 and 1975 while yankee stadium was being renovated.

Babe Ruth is so weird to me. Look at him in the picture at 2:17 - his head looks photoshopped onto his body. Looking at other images of him, he doesn't look athletic AT ALL, but he OBVIOUSLY was. He played center field, but he's got the body of a history teacher! Sidenote: Joe DiMaggio's slide at 4:02 is atrocious! Lmao!

Don’t forget, even Andrew Jones played in New York for one season. It wasn’t anything special, but it just adds to the great players who roamed center field for the Yanks.
