Here is a nice list of paperback books that are not only affordable, but also, in my opinion, indispensible for the magick practioner whether they are just getting started or already well advanced in their practice.
From compilations of introductory exercises to deep dives into the origins of the tradition, these books are the essential few that you can probably buy with your eyes closed.

Too funny, as I'm listening to you I 'pop open' Booktopia!!! Two books are in my cart already. Many thanks for doing your review, it's my substitute book shop browse :). I miss getting lost between the shelves, thumbing through books; My little rituals when book shopping work something like this;.... straight to the back to check the bibliography - assess the cover art, smell the 'newness' and feel the texture of the paper. Listening to my inner voice. All senses are engaged. I admire your bookshelves with my breath held.!

I just discovered your channel when I was searching for a beginner's guide to magic(k) as my interest in the topic recently rekindled after not touching it for almost 20 years. I'm sure that I will continue discovering the great content on your channel. The book I just re-immersed myself in is one of my favorites, "Pacts with the Devil" by S. Jason Black and Christopher S. Hyatt. Are you familiar with the work or one or the other book by these authors?

Could you please share with me what makes Lon Milo DuQuette's book, "Enochian Vision Magick" different from Aleister Crowley's book, "The Practice of Enochian Magick?" I find it rather suspicious that Mr. DuQuette would write an introduction for a newer printing of Crowley's Book, and then proceed to write another book which sounds almost identical.

@@Velvet-Of-Erion I did purchase the Psychic witch after that and I thoroughly enjoyed the book, to be honest. It is well structured, precise, helpful and easy to read. I was sceptical initially, because a great part of the US witchcraft books I've read are somewhat too New Age for my preference. Which is indeed normal, because of the general difference in life and thus, understandably, in spellcraft. In the past years, there has been some change, towards more traditional, folk based practices, which is more to my liking. So, to recap, I was sceptical, because my personal practice is folk bound, rather than modern. ☺️

@FoolishFishBooks
@FoolishFishBooks 2 жыл бұрын
Huge fan. I think what he does (get beginner magick practitionners off the couch) is probably one of the most valuable things a practitionner can do for the community. I have tried his work out myself, and it's trustworthy. Trying to understand why he does certain things in certain ways, and trying to work out why the sigils are the way they are is one of the things that led me so deep into these kinds of studies! So yes, very important work, though unfortunately poorly imitated by many who give the Kindle grimoire genre a bad name...
