OMGoodness I was going to pull my hair out last night trying TWICE to roll out dough for my first pie and about gave up ever trying again. Until now. This totally makes sense and I am going to get to making my third dough right now. THANK YOU HEAPS!!!

Anyway, I'm new to making pies and was having a heck of a time rolling out dough so I decided to google and found this youtube. I was thrilled to see you on it and my dough look great! OF COURSE! So today I stumbled on to your KZbin page, Thank You, I have been making pies for years but have always had a terrible time with a cobbler. NOT TODAY. I tried your method and it worked like magic. My husband is a happy man because he had a piece of beautiful blueberry cobbler tonight after supper. It was flakey and fabulous. Many thanks.

Hi Steve! This was a great video. I was supposed to make copycat McDonald's apple pies for my son for Thanksgiving, but the thought of flour all over my kitchen stopped me cold. My crust recipe is all butter; will I need to make any adjustments to your instructions for a good outcome? Thanks so much.

Tip needed: How to keep the parchment from sliding as one is putting one's back into it, or even if one is rolling like a wimp.
@broompatrolАй бұрын
Drape a corner of the paper over the counter edge and pin it in place by pressing your hip against it
@SteveKonopelskiАй бұрын
@@d.rabbitwhite you could always substitute the bottom piece of parchment for a silpat, that way it won’t slide around on you.
@jimlundquist360027 күн бұрын
This helped me a lot, even though I have 'gotten by' the typical way, with a considerable amount of flour on the countertop, etc. but it's challenging. To me anyway, and judging by the comments, I'm not alone, lol. I like this much better. I'm curious how you transfer it to the pie pan, as your video ends before you do that. I rolled it around the rolling pin, as I was afraid to flip it over on the parchment paper, but maybe I shouldn't have been? Anyway, just curious, and thank you!

do you chill the shortening before making a crust?
@SteveKonopelski8 ай бұрын
I don’t use shortening when making a pie crust. Since shortening can never get solid when cold, I don’t think it would hurt…especially if your recipe also calls for ice water. That would keep the ingredients in a level playing field.

What thinness (thickness) pie dough need to be rolled out to? How to ensure we get the correct thinness?
@SteveKonopelski Жыл бұрын
Great question. I usually go for about 1/4th to 1/8th of an inch. As you roll it, be sure to stop right at the edges and don’t roll over the edge to pinch it. Take a paring knife and make a small cut in the center of your dough circle. You can pull it up a bit to check the thickness and then press the dough back together again to seal the hole. I hope this helps.

I got this 😊 I somehow got this massive gingerbread cookies recipe 120 plus cookies , some pretty big ? A 100 year old grandma recipe and I'm a grandma 😅 I have these wooden dowels or stakes that come with plants, there about 18 " long and drum roll ...... in-between 1/8" & 1/4 " thick 🤗 tada!😁 and I used a 1" thick dowel x 20" long as a rolling pin .
