What a great documentary, all is said. Just a bit of deception, i thought it was impossible to talk about foosball without talking a little about Collignon (as a fan) :)

nice to see world interest. but I'm curious about why there isn't one table specifically that is recognized and designated as the professional table worldwide. I would think to be considered a pro sport we would compete on the same tables. Most other major official sports are ultimately unified in this regard. A player can train and know their training will be valuable because they know what to train for. It is so frustrating and sad when a player expends his time and resources to reach a high level then has to relearn over again to stay at that level like when competing on some different tables, based on my experiences. It impedes progress. Foosball is such a game of precision And to go thru that relearning process is not all that appealing to many players. so many players stick to their regular tables and all of the world never will get the chance to witness all the sport has to offer. Imagine how many bowlers would skip a tournament if the lanes were made of say gravel and the balls were similar to a volleyball. well for a lot of foosers that's what it's feels like having to switch tables . And ultimately to gain the sports respect as a true champ ; an Official table may help. Personally I would like to see this happen because I know there are some fine people worldwide that have given their life to this sport and I would like to see their efforts rewarded on a global platform by more than just what is recognized currently. Thank you to all of you that have given your life to unselfishly see the game flourish.

it's important to learn how to play on other tables. Us veterans grew up on crap Deutche master and chepo tables and can play on them. Tornados are pry what you are playing on but that's like only driving a Tesla when most of the world is still in Celica GTS's. We should experience both which levels out the playing field. But Tony "Cheesehead" Spredeman will still pry beat anyone on any level playing field.

All of that exists, the International Fossball Federation regulates which tables are to be used in official matches. There are 5 of them (Bonzini, Roberto Sport, Tornado, Garlando and Leonhart). I admit its not as good as having just one, but we have to keep in mind sports like tennis where there are also three surfaces on which the matches are held. A serious competitor can focus mainly on one but has to be able to translate his play on others.

I can beat all of these guys up front on a good day, (I have a lot more shots than just a "pinch shot"), but I could never get the left hand coordination for passing from the 5-man. You can't make the shot if you can't get the ball. That is frigging frustrating!!!!! :) Learned how to play in the early 80's, and picked it up real fast for some reason. Played a few pro's, and that is how I found that major 5-man weakness.

There loads of exercises you can do to get to better with the 5 bar. Easy to find here on YT. Just keep practicing.

One of the big problems with keeping the sport popular is that it takes a considerable amount of skill to simply play and be competitive. What I mean by that is unlike pool and darts and bowling, which people who never really play, can at least be competitive to some level. It doesn't take all that much to throw a dart and occasionally hit a bullseye, or roll a bowling ball and get an occasional strike or even shoot a ball into a pocket. Thats not to say that there is not any skill in those sports. Not at all. To be competitive in tournaments you definitely have to put in some time. It's just that you can't simply jump on to a foosball table having hardly played and even hope to understand whats going much less hope to make a shot or block one. So if you don't have people guiding you or influencing your game play, then you are not likely to ever pick up the sport on any significant level.
