Im restoring a 64' C10 and this give me some great ideas when i do my bed. This is way better then the TV show builds. I hated the time crunch and always wonder about the time frame when building a classic. Paint drying and body work. Good job with the video series!

I shore do like the Patina of the Bed Floor the way you sand blasted and the color of the wood. I've used the chain effect on projects before and in the right project it is really good to do. I make Cross's for wall hanging and outside use and I do that from time to time for the `0l Rugged Cross ✝.

Nice tip to use oil instead of urethane sealer. Also a nice tip to mix your own stain using acetone and auto paint. I'm building a '41 Willys pickup with a shortened and tubbed 46 chevy bed. Since most of the instructions won't "exactly work", I'm picking up tips and techniques as I get ready to put in the bed....

Acetone will remove pencil marks from wood pretty easy. Never trust the boards to have a square end cut, so check and cut if needed before sitting to final length. Also to make a clean hole with no tear out using a forstner bit, is to start slow in reverse. Once shallow edge is cut, the wood fibers are cut and will make a clean cut. The old GM guys finish is simple, they used 1 part used motor oil, 1 part kerosene and 1/2 part linseed oil after cutting holes, final length and datos on all sides. Set over plastic on saw horses, set in sun to dry and repeat. Keep it going Chip.

if you have a 67, you should notice that this truck has side signals and big back window. it pisses me off that he's calling it a 67 because 67 is the only year with NO side signals and SMALL back window. doesn;t that irritate you, knowing how your 67 is more desireable, but completely different from a 68? he's lying about the year of this truck. its a 68, easy to tell

I wish I could afford Chip's consultation on "Project Cheylark"... a '71 Cheyenne with Buick 455 running gear. I started it with my father, before he died in 2009. I drove the truck for 4yrs after the drivetrain swap. The goal, was to have a phantom truck that would appear as if it were a real 1971 Buick production... Vinyl top, "GST 455" badging, Buick script on the tailgate panel, etc. . The debated options were: -Functioning Ram Air with '70 Skylark induction -small "custom" badges from a '70 Electra 225 vinyl top -"Cheylark" script on the glove box panel -Riviera/Skylark influenced console (idea was later scrapped, for rides with the Mrs.) -Period correct Buick paisley pattern black upholstery, or use the material as an accent to period black vinyl. -15" Buick rally wheels, "Wide Oval" tires, and custom "GST" center caps (white "T" in same font at 20% larger in background, with red "GS" overlay) - adapted air suspension from a '70 Buick Riviera (later scrapped, because I hate the feel of air suspension... drove an 18 wheeler for 15yrs). -artist rendering, or retro photo shoot and faux brochure, featuring the truck in the 1970 Buick lineup -we tossed around the idea of hideaway headlights, but couldn't settle on anything that didn't take away from the looks of the truck (hence why I still prefer the '64 Riviera to later models). Sadly, my father's cancer diagnoses rapidly progressed after the drivetrain was installed. He died in 2009 as a result of his exposure to Agent Orange in Vietnam. The country was still reeling in the economic recession, and my profession (trucking) was slow to recover. We were forced to sell the family property, along with the shop. Several life hurdles took place since then, and the truck was parked after a transmission failure, and a mechanic who tried to scam me out of my truck. On a more positive note... I now have an amazing family of 7, and am enjoying my children's growing years before they graduate and I can return my attention to the truck. With our newest addition, that's AT LEAST 18yrs away. Lol It still has the 1970 "X-SF" code 455 (Riviera, Wildcat, and Electra 455 engine) rated at 370hp. The truck is OEM white and blue, that I really like, but we thought silver with a black vinyl top would suit the Buick theme much better. My father was a HUGE FAN of Chip's work, as am I. His contributions have shined from his early customs, through the Chrysler and Coddington days, and have been a beacon to those aspiring artists in his more independent work.

Chip you may never see this or respond to it but I feel that what I have to say is why more and more people come to you for work that your competitors! I do not know all of your closes competitors, one that I will single out. Is West Coast Customs, not nocking him. It is if I lived out there instead of Louisiana, it would come down to him or you. And the reason I would choose you is, years ago when training people that worked for me. Was when you talk to someone remember that they most likely have talked to or will be talking to a competitor. Now the competition will most likely have everything you have to offer. Except for you so you have to sell them on liking you over all others. And you sell yourself better than your competition. Because you rise above them say true to your self, and do not let someone try to convince you to change! for what it's worth that is how I see it.

I've got to be honest what you build most normal bank accounts will never be able to pay for but you do the best work man. I watch every show out there and you of all inspired me to build my truck I've been working on my truck since 1996. I am looking forward to pulling the body off and possibly getting a new chassis if not beefing up my stock chassis tubular control arms and a 4-link and throw as much horsepower as I can in it.
