Oh man!!! Foot surgery is so unbelievably painful! I don't know personally but my mom is in constant pain! She's had 2 surgeries on each foot and her big toe is fused on one of her feet. I took care of her after and she would cry and cry, broke my heart. 🥺

Ouch 😣. Just reminds me of my reconstructive surgery I had on my foot when I was 15 (bilateral Clubfoot). Most extreme pain in my whole life. Then I found out the surgery a year after I had the surgery. Need to have another surgery done on my foot again now but it’s going to be way more invasive and I am scared to do it but scared not to have it done because it will hopefully improve my quality of life.

What are your thoughts on Lapiplasty surgery to correct a bunion? I've watch videos, and 50% of patients were not pleased with the results because they couldn't bend their foot and prevented them from squatting/ exercise and wearing high heels, even thought they were told any of those activities would be affected. Also, they said it was excruciate painful :/

no idea what my surgery was called, but the surgeon cut along the top of my foot and the side, cuz i got ran over and my whole foot got messed up i dislocated my big toe, broke some stuff and i think i tore something

What is the difference between your DPM and Orthopedic MD/surgeon? Also, should surgery be done on nondisplaced calcaneus fracture? Would have come to see ya but you're in LA area😢.

Podiatrists (DPM) are focused on foot/ankle surgery only, while orthopedic surgeons operate on the entire body. It depends on the type of fracture and the patient. Ask your doctor and don’t be afraid to get a second opinion!

Thanks Dr. Dana. I appreciate your follow up. Did get 2nd opinion and after consult with PCP, de idea on surgery. I hope I don't regret it. Orthopedic surgeon came recommended. Wish me luck!

I had the nerve to look up my upcoming surgery for a right fifth metatarsal severe non displaced Jones fracture repair. Of course I thought it would be a good idea to order my drink at Starbucks, sit down, and watch the videos on KZbin….. 😅😅😅 It was a good and bad idea! I was mentally prepared but also having regrets in knowing what was about to happen…😅 I gained a huge appreciation and respect on how incredibly skilled podiatrists are because there’s no room for error in the type of surgery I had. Super grateful for my podiatrist and all podiatrists! Y’all are phenomenal! ❤
