As the first High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems, known as HIMARS, from the United States landed in Ukraine, they marked a turning point in the nation's staunch resistance against one of the world's most feared military superpowers. A high-ranking officer, in a release from the United States Department of Defense, hailed these systems as delivering a: (QUOTE) “significant impact” on the battlefront, marking a critical turning point in the conflict.
For Ukraine’s resolute defenders, HIMARS quickly became the cornerstone of the arsenal supplied by the Western alliance, spearheaded by the U.S. Reports from the front lines consistently highlighted how these weapons significantly bolstered their resistance against Russian onslaughts.
The HIMARS allowed Ukrainian forces to pinpoint Russian positions, strike them from afar with lethal precision, and then swiftly maneuver to safety using their hit-and-run capabilities-before the Russians could even register the blow. These systems proved devastatingly effective and nearly invincible. Such was the confidence in their HIMARS that a Ukrainian officer boasted on social media about Russia’s inability to take down a single unit.
However, after years of successful deployments, a harrowing new video surfaced, showing a Russian missile zeroing in on a HIMARS unit. The complete destruction of this unit presents a grim reality: Russia might have cracked the code on tracking and annihilating these crucial assets.

This is how warfare evolves. One country develops a new way to destroy their enemy. The enemy country develops ways to defeat the weapon. And the cycle begins again

Was coming here to say the same thing. Tactics on battlefield have been evolving for thousands of years. The fact that nobody saw how valuable $200 drones would be (darwinfpv 7" for $179+$20 battery) seems crazy to me.

One Ukrainian operated unit got caught out in the open by an observation drone and everyone thinks the Russians figured out some novel way to neutralize HIMARS. 🤣 Come on! It was bound to happen. The Ukrainians have had these units pressing hard close to the front lines to engage Russian rear command and logistics targets for months. Russian command can figure out rather quickly the general areas where the units are operating and then concentrate drone forces to hunt and destroy. It’s impressive just how well the Ukrainians have utilized HIMARS with such low attrition.

It's not lucky, the lack of air defense munitions and stretched resourced allowed the Russian UAV to probe deeper into Ukrainian airspace, and force UA's Himars to over-extend itself..... that was near spring 2024.. months after US aid dried up. Well played by the Russians in throttling UA's biggest supporter..

I strongly believe that we should not even be over there pulling strings 🇺🇸 We are giving ukraine weapons that we were scheduled to recycle over the next few years, instead of them rotting on shelves they can at least go to use weaking our enemy. This give us info on how well our stuff stack up against our enemy with us losing any American lives. and what we have learned is that americian made weapons work. the only fault we have learned is that our stock pile ammo is no where near what we truly need if WW3 breaks out. Kinda important piece of information to know don't ya think?

I see one key component on this battlefield that is hugely in Ukraine's favor. Their command and control is outstanding their leaders are outstanding and experienced. Whereas Russia is just throwing whatever against the wall and hoping it sticks. In this sense it reminds me of my country which is America versus Japan in World War II where the Japanese leadership was incredibly inflexible. And if those leaders on the battlefield were killed the troops had no initiative whatsoever. Where American troops would follow a private for God's sake if all the leaders were killed. It's the same with the Russians, they lack initiative when their leaders are killed.🇺🇲⚓️💯☕️🚬❤️

Defending itself? Is that how you defend yourself? By invading a neighbouring country that posed zero threat, had no weapons of mass destruction, had a much smaller army, no navy to speak of, and an obsolete air force left behind by an occupying power? Now what kind of threat did Ukraine pose? I think you have forgotten uncle Vladimir's outspoken intent to re-establish the soviet Union. Oh, yes, nearly forgot. The poor, frightened Russian people felt threatened by a country that had more washing machines and indoor toilets in most cities than in the whole of Russia.
