I had this game and always believed that with a CPU (1-player option), this would have been one of the best 2600 games ever. Stupidly simple, but that's the brilliance of it.

Look at these titles! Baseball, Basketball, Football, not this "Madden" shit. Just plain-ass, normal, everyday, no question about it, no NFL, no year, not named after a player, not named after a coach, not named after the referee's pet goldfish, no quarterback, dime-back, Nickelback, simple, ordinary, un-embellished, unmistakable, crystal clear, as frank as Frankenstein, as blunt as an atom bomb! One compound word: It's MOTHERFUCKING, GODDAMNED, SONS-OF-BITCHIN', FUCK-FUCK-FUCKIN', FOOTBALL! Eyaaaa! *BOOOM!!!!!*💥💥💥 Aaand it's one of the worst games I ever played in my life

Hell yeah! Me and my cousin Bill would play this and Real Sports Football. C64 was Touchdown Football, Superbowl Sunday, 4th & Inches, then NES Playaction Football and Tecmo on the Nintendo. Your voice sounds like Scott Ian's from Anthrax.

Uh yah… avgn actually knows very very little about this era of games and forwards a lot of silly narratives. Aqualung makes him look like an ignoramus. Aqua’s takes are spot-on and align with what us oldies felt at the time.

Good game. I stopped playing the game all together after I forgot how to catch the football. Not very fun game after that. At the time, we had no instruction booklet or even the internet to look up on how to catch the ball. It was a garage sale find.

That game sucked so bad, I preferred football on the Odyssey. I never played the Real Sports on Atari. So, from my personal experience I never saw a good football game until Tecmo Bowl on the NES. There was also an NFL Football on NES (before Tecmo) and when I saw the box in the store I thought "finally, a good football game". I took it home and put it in and was impressed with the graphics, but the gameplay sucked and it was so slow, unplayable. Then came Tecmo NES/SNES then finally Madden on the SNES/Sega Genesis. I see people complaining about the new Madden games and I think "you fuckers don't know how good you got it, try playing Atari 2600".
