The Ball State d-line was a strength of the team last season racking up 32 sacks. This year the team looks to build on that through practice and technique -- they want the little things to be right!

“But I’m not strong enough.” That doesn’t matter if you know how to use what you have. Strength’s value deteriorates the less you know how to use it.

I cant be the only one who doesn't bench much but plays with alot of strength right?

That's exactly me bruh. I only started working out a couple months ago and I can only bench 135, which is EXTREMELY terrible for someone that's 5'11" 240lb. But when I block, punch, and tackle, I'm considered one of the stronger guys on the field. I honestly wished I started lifting a couple years earlier tbh
@NaiKzOfficial5 жыл бұрын
@Joel Emgoat the prince of all goats That's exactly what my coaches have been telling me. And to also drive my feet into the ground. I haven't been benching religiously, but only like once or twice a week for like an hour. I really want someone to teach me how to bench with proper form so I can lift more. I'm not weak or anything, I just need to learn to be more effective
@LukeA_555 жыл бұрын
I mean if were giving bench tips, try doing this bench pyramid workout. 8 reps, then add 10 lbs and do 6 reps, +10 lbs 4 reps, +10 lbs 3 reps, +10 lbs 2 reps, +10 lbs 1 rep. And u should end up near ur 1 rep max on the last set. I'm 15 140 lbs and I bench 225. I went from being stuck at 165 in Feb to benching 225 and benching 165 for 8 reps with like 4 months of using that workout

@@LukeA_55 Thanks for the tip! Might use this when I start benching again
@LukeA_555 жыл бұрын
@@NaiKzOfficial sry I didn't notice that u said u needed help with your form, but the best thing that helped me was to have a sturdy base. And what I mean by that is that my back is tight and secured on the bench and both my feet are planted. And one way that I used to learn how to get my back tight was to stand with the middle of my back touching the skinney part of a door and trying to squeeze the door with my back muscles. And when u go to bench squeeze ur back and it will give u a firm foundation. And have ur feet planted, and I can't explain it but if u push with ur legs it helps, go look it up on youtube bc I can't explain it. And if ur truly training for strength, don't bounce the weight and keep ur butt on the bench, if u control the weight u will definitely get stronger. And another thing to help with benching and every other exercise is to have a mind muscle connection and to know what muscles the exercise is training and how the muscles are moving the weight. Bench for instance is not just chest, it is a combination of chest, front delt and triceps. And the way I taught myself was to figure out what those muscles did, so like chest muscles pull ur arms together when their spread apart (chest flys) front delts lift ur arms up when they r by ur side (front raises) and triceps extend ur arm (tricep extensions). And when u put those 3 movements together (chest fly, front raises, and tricep extensions) u get the bench press. And it always helps to isolate those muscles to get them stronger to get a stronger bench. I hope that way of thinking helps u, I have a mechanical way of thinking, so when I started working out back in December I had to figure out what exercise was working what muscle and how it was working it. O and one more super important thing (if u have even read this far) is ur breathing, take a big breath when u unrack the weight, and take another deep breath before u start going down. Brian ashlure does a great job of explaining the breathing part, look at his youtube vid abt it, it rly helps

@pancrideas868511 ай бұрын
Man I can’t recommend any videos bunt I can give advise I just had my second game of the year at that position and honestly the position is built in a way where when you play you have to try and convince yourself to absolutely hate the linemen ,running back and most especially over everything the quarterback and you half to be more then fine to fight through the pain in all honesty d end’s usually are either smaller faster guys or bigger stronger guys sometimes a mix but all of them still usually get extra hurt because of the position when your fighting with a combination of 1000 pounds of linemen it gets a little rowdy so you gotta learn to deal with that and also more important then everything stay humble help up whoever you sack or tackle, compliment d line and show out love when the clock isn’t running after all you gotta respect a bunch of kids playing their hearts out regardless if you win or lose
@CaseyThomas-dn8ro10 ай бұрын
Img academy has d line v of the neck. Most important read you can make as a linemen. I was undersized DE @ 195lbs competing with big boys from Cincinnati anywhere from 315+

@@CaseyThomas-dn8ro haha I feel you man I’m a 178 pound end fighting with ohio boys I try and use my speed and it helps a little against the slower linemen but I’d prefer if I could man handle too but I’m not there yet at all
