Young Sheldon turned into a soap opera. Also, how old was Young Sheldon before going off to college. Older than 11, for sure. The first 2 years were OK, then it went downhill fast.

@jonebert7716 the character had to die when Sheldon was 15. It was going too far off the rails at that point. It turned into a soap. They should have pulled the show a year earlier.
