Compression pants also have another great advantage that l hear no on mentioning: Protection when tackling on turf. Sometimes making a slide tackle can really hurt your legs because of the high amount of friction, usueally in the hip area. I highly recommend this for defenders who play on ag surfaces!

I'm a little bit disappointed none of these are things I don't already use. However one I would add is perhaps Kinesio tape for minor muscle strains and full on sports tape for any ankle tenderness. I play a very rigorous season and towards the finals few matchdays my muscles and joints slowly start to feel like they could break down. This is obviously fairly natural when you play 3 hours of matches, 6 hours of training and 1.5 hours of futsal for a whole year, but, using sports tape and going to speak with a physiotherapist regularly on how to apply the tape, aided recovery and injury prevention is crucial. Another few things I recommend is a deep massage gun, foam roller, yoga mat and ankle weights. Massage gun and foam roller are obvious, yoga mat is so you have no excuses not to be stretching each and every day and finally ankle weightd are for strengthening on the hip muscles(confusing I know), but by doing marches and various stretches and warm up exercises with ankle weights on, you are passively strengthening muscles that are crucial to football. Beyond that, the best thing in the world for football, is a good nights sleep. So for those cup finals or derby days, having some sleeping medication(speak to your doctor) will help ensure you are ready. Best of luck friends.

Two Things I can no longer play without and a Third Hack I guess you could call it maybe well it at least was for me #1 In my home town it’s always cold during the football season and this year I started wearing full leg length compression tights and gloves and occasionally a full length compression top when it’s extra cold 🥶 and I feel more comfortable out there in the cold now and they are full leg length not only to keep my whole leg warmer but because I’ve also started to wear my compression tights every game even in warm conditions cause my shin pads always used to annoy me with them moving around in my sock or falling out and this year I’ve been putting them in behind my compression tights to keep them in place better and don’t have to worry about them moving around, falling out or even if my sock is down around my ankles and it’s worked a treat and something I’m no longer stoping and fixing while playing and can focus better on the game #2. Headband I have long/medium hair and it used to annoy me when my hair would get in my face and used to slick it back with hair gel or something like that but it still wouldn’t be perfect for the entire game since using a headband it’s been one less thing I’ve not had to worry about mid game yes I could cut my hair but I like my hair length and football is the only time it used to annoy me #3 not that it is necessarily something different or odd cause you obviously require them to play but boots I always used to play with a boot size one too big or with a thumbs width of space mainly due to my foot still growing but even when my foot stopped growing I was still buying boots with that thumbs width like I do with normal shoes but last season I bought a pair almost skin tight to my foot and it helped me control the ball better, my passing shooting and since I’m a wing/fullback even my tackling and increased my speed helping me break away from defenders or catch up to attackers even quicker and might get myself some of those grip socks to make it even more effective
