REWIND TO 2012: There are few Australians who can be called a genuine living legend but Ron Barassi is without doubt, one of them. His achievements are quite incredible - a record 10 AFL premierships, a decorated public life. He's as revered now as the day he retired.
But in recent times, Ron has been quietly facing a burden that is slowly changing his life. It's inspired an epic pilgrimage through a strife-torn country. I was privileged to join Ron on that emotional journey and let me tell you, he's as brave and determined today as he ever was out on the paddock.

My own late father lived in St Kilda saw him regularly on the street and said he was a decent, humble man who related to anyone and everyone. Dad didn't like AFL at all but saw Barassi the person and his value to something bigger than sport, but what Australians aspire to be without the arrogance and honest till the days end. I'm sure Barass is now telling Dad how great Aussie Rules is and getting him to convert loyalties! He was an Australian legend. RIP mate.

I'd not heard of this man as a sports person, but what a lovely story, and what a lovely family. I've got tears now. Thank you 60 Minutes for your interesting stories, from the UK. 💕

He lived a very magnificent and wonderful 87 years on this earth. One of the few men in Australian rules football history who gave more to the sport and league than it had given him. 254 games as a player and over 500 games as a senior coach. He pulled no punches and tolerated no tomfoolery, ineptitude, idiocy, arrogance, disrespect, ignorance or selfishness when it came to his teammates when he played and players when he coached.

~ I'm guessing that a lot of our 60 mins stories are about horrid people that have done horrid things and there might be a lot of sh*t slinging in the comments.....

Would be nice to leave a football there as well so Senior can have a kick around with his mates, and now with his son, and Norm Smith as well if they're all together in footy heaven.
