I started a hull city save 2 years ago, signed a wonderkid with ~200 potential in s2, nurtured and trained him to become world's best offensive midfielder, spent 18 years building my team around him (he never even requested to leave the club), won 8 ucls, 10 epls and more with him, when he eventually retired, Im pretty sure I shed a tear or two

Speaking of wierd manager appointments: I've once had a really long save, 40 years into the future and a guy that was the manager of Zimbabwe, who had never done anything special (no international tournaments) randomly get appointed Bayern Manager, wins the trebel in his 1st season, the retires

Sorry for the long comment, but yes, friendlies against small opposition are not only a norm for me, but a must. In terms of crying, I once was almost in tears after bottling a 7 point lead in Bundesliga with Bayer Leverkusen. 😢 I was fed up with finishing 2nd 3 times in a row. I then realised that the tears actually came from the chillies that I chopped when cooking curry 😂😭... As for the weirdest managerial appointment I have seen, it was good old David Moyes at Real Madrid. Yes, he did win the big ears trophy. 😅

Paul Jewell to Chelsea was random on my save the other year. In a flip to your question “what’s the weirdest appointment in your save” I have an opposite…I always end up appointing sacked managers to my coaching team. Got an elite list. Lol

As a Villa fan I always check on what Villa are doing, but I never manage them. So my weird managerial appointment is that Unai Emery left Villa to go to Chelsea. Which is already weird. But then he got sacked by Chelsea and 3 years later he went to MILLWALL leading them to promotion from the Championship.

Someone suggested I try a save where I put the best players in the world in the 10th tier of England football and see if they can get Newport Isle of Wight to the Champions league. That'd make Iniesta at Burnley sound amateur 😛

I get angry when it glitches. I was Haverford West County and after 5 seasons I had been the last 36/38 table in the Europa (I think) twice. First time I got millions as I exited in last place. Two years later, at the same point, the club got nothing. Consequently, the board decided to go back to semi-pro. I therefore resigned. Not happy

I have cried while playing FM, but it was more due to headaches/feeling sick and just trying to make something of my day yet it hurting too much as for real emotion, it's mostly when gamble players I sign that do insanely well want to leave. I specifically remember Danielzinho for my Shimizu save, I really wish I could keep him but he had his heart set on going back to Brazil. What a player he was, still miss his story even tho he was at the club for only 2 years...

I'm currently playing a Glory Hunter save, season 5, in charge of Bayer Leverkusen, and my favourite international appointment has happened, because Mark Hughes is the new Armenia manager. Not only is he a success, he's qualified them for their first ever Euros.

I played a version on an iPad back in 2012 and my player died!! A screen just came up saying I had passed away and all my previous players attended my funeral. Never seen it before or since. I was in my late seventies on the game and was about 40 seasons in.

Most unrealistic manager appointment I've ever seen in game is probably Theodore Whitmore, former manager of the Jamaican national team, end up managing Manchester City in FM21. I've also seen Ståle Solbakken manage Lazio, where I doubt the ultras would make him feel welcome. Jonathan Witt at Leicester was an odd one too, but somewhat realistic given the circumstances of the save. And you're not the only one with a very easy friendly in pre-season. I do the same every pre-season, or international break. Friendly against a local, ideally affiliate, amateur club at their ground to give back to the community.

The weirdest manager appointment I think I've had was former Maccabi Haifa and Red Star Belgrade manager Barak Bakhar ending up at Man United after a successful 6 years at Juve manager for 6 years on my FM 23 save in 2042. Stayed for nearly 7 years and won of note 5 PL titles 1 Champions League and 2 FA cups before retiring at Manchester United at the age of 72.

I'm playing my first ever save and it's with brighton. Got to the ucl final in the 3rd season and got smashed 4-2 by inter. Got back to the final the next year and lost 3-2 to Real after getting a straight red in the 8th minute. Got back for a 3rd consecutive year and lost on pens to PSG. I was ready to quit. I pulled myself together and have now won 4 straight ucl finals and 7 straight epl titles. I think I'm ready for a bottom league road to glory save 😬

I mean the Neil Lennon thing was denied by the club as the tweet says so who knows how real it is lol. As for the Bayern friendly, yeah, it is really useful to boost morale in FM, irl I believe they had actually promised them that friendly in return for moving a cup game to the Allianz to save on travel or something a few years back so that s why they play them, they played them last year too. Might be remembering wrong though

4:38 it is realistic, sometimes. maurizio sarri used to play all 38 league games with the exact same 11 with barely few substitutions, while in the cups depens, against small teams he used almost a full bench, while in the champions league agaisnt manchester city for example he used the classic 11. ps. in fact that Napoli played so so good, but in the 2nd half of the season dropped significally, i guess they were tired, especially considering they also pressed high and the intensity was pretty red, using fm terms lol

@@Clayts i mean 6 years ago technically he coached napoli till 2018. as a napoli fan i say that, idk if he did the same at chelsea, juve and lazio tbh. then ofc changing few players in not so important games would be more realistic whats even less realistic is pressing 90 minutes every game, which 99% of meta tactics do. and conceding more goals with a lower "pressing line" and defense line

I get very emotional. I play on my own (wild west) database, eventually got pissed off with Man city for constantly taking my best players, so I decided to find them guilty of all 115 charges ingame. They have gone into administration, can't afford to renew their player contracts about to get relegated into league one. Yes I'm a terrible person, EXACTLY what I thought about the Bordeaux news

Not cry, just very very angry! Currently I am managing Jablonec in Czechia - in my 5th season, I finally got to grips with the dominant Prague clubs (Slavia & Sparta) and I went through the entire regular season without losing and with a 10 point lead. The top 6 then in the Championship Group - as the fixtures came out Jablonec played Sparta at home in the first game. As Sparta were our closest rivals I would clinch the title with a win. And I won, so won the title - first time in Jablonec history. Now 4 more games for an invincible season. Next game, away to Viktoria Plzen - we dominated the game, yet somehow managed to lose 4-2 😠

I started a save with pne got them to the prem and got a job offer to from psg I spent the rest of the save there won two champions leagues 20 leagues 1 club World Cup a Europa and conference title and one season I missed out on the title by 1 point and they sacked me I cried and then went and got the Madrid job and won them 7 champions league and beat psg 4 times in the final and 2 times in the semis basically sticking my middle finger up to the psg board
