To this day i still cannot believe Harold Schumachker was not sent of for that horredous tackle in the Semi Final in 1982 , and to make matters worse he saved the Penalty that took the Germans to the Final . I am convinced that he did that tackle on purpose

The greatest World Cup game I have ever seen was the 1982 semi final between France and Germany. I wanted France to win. The French in the 1980s were superb.

I will never forgive Schumacher the butcher for what he did. This match construct my life as a football fan. If you have not experimented it live you can’t understand how traumatic the Sevilla 1982 match was for my generation. I have seen live 1984 1998 and 2018 France teams play and the Platini team is far head of the two others.

You have to include when it started, nowhere at the start of the 70s but got better when Platini, Rouchteau etc arrived in the mid '70s. The match against Argentina in 78 was fabulous and they grew in confidence, hence dangerous in '82.

@@markcheung1974 I agree with you on that, it shows the inconsistency of the series. It should be 70 - 76 simply because quite a number of players in the 1970 WC Semifinal team played in the '72 & '74 finals along with the same manager even. Beckenbauer, Maier, Muller, Overath, Hottages, Grabowski etc with some additions - some of them started in '66 even again with Helmut Schoen as manager. The above program did show some clips from 1970. Only an observation but the team progressed as a dangerous side for quite a few years into 1972 when they truly dominated. I do like to know how teams get to the top, not just when they're at the top.
