Absolute baller, a joy to watch especially at Liverpool, Madrid and Bayern Munchen. Excellent finisher too I might add. Unassuming on the pitch but his presence was felt when he had the ball in his feet. He was the brains of that Liverpool midfield alongside Mascherano who had the grit and Gerrard who was the heart of the side.

Xabi's attitude is outstanding. His talent was obvious, but his hard work really excelled him as a player. I have no doubt that every coach who worked with him thought they could rely on him 100% in every game. In addition, I bet he was a terrific professional for the youngsters to look up to. I know if I had been a coach, I would have been telling the youngsters to copy the way he carries himself on and off the pitch.

Xabi Alonso had been gifted with good technique, excellent vision, and varied passing range, he excelled in the centre in a deep-lying playmaking role, where he utilized his accurate long passing ability to create goal scoring chances for teammates. Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh We've got the best midfield in the wo-o-orld, We've got Xabi Alonso Momo Sissoko Gerrard and Mascherano-oh-oh! Those were the days. And yes, any midfield that has Gerrard, Alonso and Mascherano in it is, without question, the best in the world. Absolutely loved Xabi. Brilliant player, brilliant person and a fantastic servant to Liverpool Football Club who genuinely appreciated our club and was rewarded by boundless love from the support. It hurt seeing him play for someone other than us, but we were all delighted for him because he loved the club, gave his all, and left in the right way when the time came. Love Rafa as well, but I'll never be able to forgive him for selling Xabi.
