Shadow striker is a role, its what you DO. Every role has a specific instructions that you need to DO. So, it’s not a position, it’s a Role. The question is: Where are you supposed to be on the pitch? Middle? Defense? Attack? I think that the the SS is positioned at AM (Attacking Midfield) position. This is the same position as the No.10 playmaker. He is positioned between the lines to receive the ball. This is where the SS is positioned. The reason why I like this role is because if your FB likes to attack, that allows you to move inside so that way your FB create the width, to stretch the defense. If your team has an IWB (Inverted Wingback like what you see in the top teams in the league like Manchester City) this player will move inside right next to the Defensive Midfielder to occupy YOUR space. So that means I can move out wide. The other team will be very confused because you are unpredictable. I like this attacking role. This role works with a striker that can hold the ball long enough for the SS to run and receive the ball. This role can be the main goal scorer.
