Have any of you actually spoken with Argentinian people about race and the relationship Argentina has with race? They live in a different reality where they think that they weren't colonialists (Argentina was colonised by Spain and almost the entire indigenous population was wiped out), and didn't engage in the slave trade (they did, for 3 centuries), that what we in Europe/USA view as racism is due to our guilt about slavery, and so when Argentinians 'joke' about race it's not the same. Just so that anyone who doesn't know is aware - Argentinians are known throughout South America as racist towards darker skinned people, they see themselves as more pure (because they're European), and because they don't believe they are colonialists they also think they have a divine right to the land. It's a very twisted form of racism/nationalism. Argentina is also where a lot of Nazi's felt very comfortable escaping to and settling down in. Their country is in deep denial about their history and what part race plays in it.

Now returning to the lyrics of the song, it is not racist to associate a French of black ethnicity with an African country since it is the continent of origin of said ethnicity. As it is a simple court song, many African countries were used so that they could rhyme in Spanish. I also understand that the issue of racism is widely used in European and American politics as political leverage. The 2030 agenda has hit them so hard that they can no longer differentiate a joke from a really racist comment, and since Argentina is very loved for its soccer in most countries in the world, France used this manipulation maneuver to dirty and denigrate us. There really isn't much more to say, I just hope they are more critical and informed before criticizing Argentines without knowing the history of the country or its cultural diversity.

My initial take on it was , that its blown out of proportion. Misjudged and wrapped up in the moment and crowd/group mentality - he has sang without thinking about what he is singing. The content itself was very borderline whether its racist or just a little bit nationalist, but then Argentina itself IS a particularly racist place. If apologies were made, missteps were acknowledged and a promise to change that culture, if Enzo himself showed guilt asked for forgiveness, and that might have been it. But the reaction by the country itself has changed it for me, they've made it into a far bigger thing then it might have been. Because I completly disagree with it and now its about where does the player stand with respect to the rest of his country. Because 1 is very wrong.

I am from Asia. I read the chant lyrics many times. I still don't get what is the fuss/racist about it? Last month, the World Cup Cricket was held in the USA and Caribbean islands.
