@@corningmuseumofglass Thats what I would have wanted to say too. He is doing a wonderfull job. I would have liked to watch him doing all this in the Museum. But I'm in Germany which is not as close as maybe New York and my account won't allow me to make short trips to New York or Corning. But I'm also addicted to Glass, in the meantime because a schoolmate of mine in switzerland Mary Shaffer who is known for her wonderful Glass, creations animated me by her doing. But... I#m already the age she is and that does not allow too much anymore. But I#m working with Glass in the meantime ,, beginning with slumped Glass and starting withe the flame to do all the things I would need a Hot shop for which is a different story. But I ' glad you wrote this comment and I don't feel to lonely among the specialists and those who will hopefully become one. Thank you

I've taken three workshops with Bill. A true master of glass, historian, and gentleman. At the end of our time he even invited the entire class to his home for dinner. I'll never forget the experience. Thank you once again Bill.

Somehow these videos are super relaxing, plus its really fascinating to see how beautiful works of art made of glass come to life.
We visited the Corning museum in 2016. It was fantastic. I would highly recommend visiting if you are ever in the area. We even paid for the blow your own glass class. So much fun!

Really enjoy watching a functional artefact of relative simplicity being crafted so efficiently. I find glass work frustrating to watch. I am not sure why? maybe because I'd rather be there doing it myself...who knows. For sure, I absolutely cannot stand the intricate items, or for instance a recent one I saw of a Japanese blower that was just disturbing...again, I am totally puzzled about my reactions to glass work. If it takes more than 10 minutes to make, I am not interested. I like beauty and function and simplicity and Mr. Gudenrath achieves that perfectly in this video. Apologies for anyone that might find my blah blah blah puzzling or annoying.

Blowing that thin, and probably with System 96 in the furnace (a certain chemical makeup of glass for glass blowers that cools faster, among other properties), if he wastes even a second, he could loose the piece (it would break) to thermal contraction, or expansion when he goes to reheat it (which isn't quite as harsh in his sort of Renaissance Italian setup with a pot of glass under the reheating space, but in a "regular" reheating unit would corrode thanks to the glass seeping through the bottom.). He really doesn't have a choice about speed. He's answerable to the glass.

nice video, should have the title, furnace method of goblet + foot, as the other video (studio demonstrations) is on Flame working a foot, with a propane flame, nice to see the furnace method of this project :-) . also great work, as with most furnace projects, a team help the artist, but to balance the glass single handed, and use the tools, without a "catcher" to pick up any mistakes.

*centrifugal. Centripetal means toward the center. Centrifugal means away from the center. When you're swinging molten glass around to elongate it, that's using centrifugal force.
