Footloose Filming Locations in Utah

Come along as I explore the locations they used to make the 1984 movie Footloose.

At the time of filming Footloose I lived in Provo in the neighborhood behind the Hi-Spot Burger place. One night a friend and I were walking that way, and the cast and crew were there filming that evening. That was the first and only time I have been around something like that . We stayed and watched for a while. I will never forget that moment.

This is amazing to watch! I was born and raised in Payson. I lived in the little red brick house right across the street from Payson High School and you can see it in many shots of the movie. Crazy to think that in many of those shots a 2 year old me very well was in that house at that moment! My father is a fruit farmer and we know the McMullins very well! Great video, very well done!

I saw the movie in 1984 as a 13 year old kid. It's always been one of my favorites and the older I get, the more I appreciate that it was a snapshot of my life in the 80s, when things were a lot more simple. One thing I have been wondering about and did some research online to no avail, is if the famous 72 Beetle in the movie is still around and if so, has the owner kept it's appearance like the movie? That's a sweet piece of movie memorabilia if it is still around. Great job on showing these locations. It's really interesting how development has changed the landscape in many of the locations. The Lehi Mill still stands strong all these years later as does the church.

Hey there, I lived in Springville & was a junior in high school when Footloose was filmed (filmed in 1983/released in 1984). I remember the High Spot, which was more near the middle of the parking lot of the one you showed. FUN FACT: The huge building next door (Which looking at your video, seems to still be there) was "The Ivy Tower" a dance club in the '90s, go figure? Anyway, YES the book burning scene WAS filmed at Springville High, which another FUN FACT: The entire school's scenes were planned on being filmed at Springville High, but since our mascot was the "Red Devil", the producers didn't like the "image" of a devil, so decided to go with Payson High instead, since it looked older and was the "Lions" (which you can see a glimpse of during the lunch room scene on the banner behind Ren) and was also a "Carbon Copy" of Springville High. Just thought you'de like those fun facts....

I lived in Lehi for over 3 years and prior to coming there, I didn’t know FOOTLOOSE was partially filmed there. Lived literally caddy-corner at a hotel and drove by and went “What the hell.. why’s that look familiar?” and about 2 min later.. damn near wrecked my car hitn the brakes for no reason and went.. “FOOTLOOSE!.. That’s the building Kevin Bacon was working at..” and flipped a U-ey and went back.. took a few pics and googled the film and its locations and I WAS RIGHT! Kind of a pretty cool 😎 find and w/o anyone telling me or seeking it out; just driving by and recognizing something familiar.😁

5 Stars! Was always looking for a more in depth view of this movie, even the tractor chicken race location covered, was waiting for this. Pity about Geneva Steel building demolished because that would have seeled it thoroughly, all in all, fantastic work, really made me feel right back in the movie, such a classic film. They don't make them like this movie anymore. Cheers!

This video is absolutely amazing! Without a doubt the best 'Footloose' filming location video.... My wife's family is from Lehi, and I always enjoyed seeing the filming locations when we visited them. I live in the area too, and am extremely observant of the mountains. If I ever see Footloose, I'll most likely be the guy who points out mistakes in the movie. In this case, the location, due to my familiarity of the land.

Used to drive up and down that road from genola to payson... it very much is the same road
