45:55 Clint Eastwood's character is called "manco" (monco in the Italian version) which means without one hand. For this reason in the opening scene he only uses one hand to beat the wanted man. It's obviously a trick to surprise his enemies, since he has both hands.

Ahh ok , so that's what manco means ! Makes sense now. We're really not going to be get anything resembling his name are we 😂

I have to admit that the older films like these are ten times better than any that are made now.

@@RamblersIncThe Magnificent Seven , but it bears little resemblance to the original. It's more like the Xmen of Westerns, showcasing diversity over the story

@@RamblersInc The original is one of the greats. The remake is a pale attempt. You probably were told that A Fistful Of Dollars is a re-setting of Kurosawa's Yojimbo, well The Magnificent Seven is a western version of his Japanese masterpiece The Seven Samurai.

The actor who played the villain is Gian Maria Volonte. He could play anything. He gave a searingly beautiful performance in "Christ Stopped at Eboli", a film set in the lead up to World War II.

An underrated film. Most just assume The Good, The Bad and The Ugly is better. It isn't but it is more famous.

A man with no name journey continues. Each movie one gets better. Although this one and last one are pretty close.

Such a great casting here. Despite being good on their own too, I really liked the partnership of Clint Eastwood and Lee Van Cleef. El Indio is one of the greatest villains of all time imo. Gian Maria Volonte was a brilliant actor that deserves more praise. This movie and The Good, The Bad, The Ugly are pretty close if I have to rank them in terms of everything. The latter one edges it though.

I think that's why we loved it so much. Two great actors playing two very different characters in a partnership.

"Manco" means "One-Armed" and that might be why he fights with one arm in many scenes.

He preserve his right hand only for shooting. Didn't they messed up right hand of The Man With No Name in "Firtful Of Dollars"? I always thought that this characteristic of "Monco" was a reminescence of the first movie.

In my head canon, the gauntlet Manco was wearing was a consequence of the Rojos more or less maiming his right hand in the previous film.

After you finish the trilogy you need to watch the 1969 Leone classic with Henry Fonda, Charles Bronson, Jason Robards and Claudia Cardinale, "Once Upon a Time in the West". It is THE classic western directed by an Italian who uses the camera for dialogue. Good job on this one. Enjoy "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.

We'll get to it eventually as it's on our list. That's a great point which I don't know if we mentioned in our review. The camera work is very unique in these movies.

My order the for Leone westerns: 1. For a Few Dollars More 2. Once Upon a Time in the West 3. The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly 4. A Fistful of Dollars 5. Duck, You Sucker After this film the amount of money Leone has to play with continues to rise, and the films get a little self indulgent and lengthy, but I think he peaked here. If you think that the music was good in this film Morricone's score for the next film _is incredible_ and you will likely recognise a few of the pieces.

It took me far longer than I'm comfortable admitting to get the idea into my head that Sergio Leone basically had the same approach to casting as George "Mad Max" Miller has, as in: they both don't give an eff about continuity. The guy who played the villain last time? He did a fantastic job, why waste him? Same as with Toecutter and Immortan Joe from the Mad Max films, and I love the idea now. It's so much an ensemble feel to the whole enterprise. I won't say anything spoilery about "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly", only that you can clearly see Sergio Leone's evolution as a storyteller, both narratively and visually. He got better and better at his particular style, and it certainly peaked with "Ugly" - as far as these adventurous, comedic western heist thrillers are concerned. I love all three of them, but I still think Leone's next film after "Ugly", "Once Upon A Time In The West" is where it all came together into perfection. I hope you don't mind me dropping a recommendation here, if you haven't seen it already: "Galavant". It's a two season medieval fantasy-musical comedy, and I can promise you it's the most satisfying thing I have seen before "Ted Lasso" came along. If it's something for you, there are loads of clips from the show here on YT, to give you a first impression. Amazingly heartwarming reaction, you guys, as always. Cheers!

I don't blame him about using the same actors if they're good enough and fit the profile. "If it ain't broke..." It looks like it has good ratings, so we'll add it to future tv show polls after we watch a few clips.

$40,000 reward for the robbery culprits. No doubt the money had to be returned. The film and story covers all the bases, difficult to fault as it unfolds. Cheers for the reaction.

What's good about spaghetti westerns is because they are made abroad they don't have to be about American myth making. So they can be badder and grittier as well as having more down to earth humour to them. Clint Eastwood will have been marketed in the US as the 'man with no name' hero but he isn't that perfect.
@RamblersInc
@RamblersInc 6 ай бұрын
