One of the reasons why I enjoyed Italian Westerns - the music was just perfect!

Italian westerns were also called ''Spaghetti Westerns''. In this case is the film ''For a Fistful of Dollars'' (1966) with Clint Eastwood and Lee Van Cleef. These movies, in particular ''The Good, The Bad and The Ugly'' (1967) were usually filmed in the desert of Almeria, Spain. But the characters and history are so good and the places look so much like the southwest of the US, than you actually believe it. But these stories of robbers, villains, girls, saloons, civil wars, etc are much more universal than what you might think. In my country (Argentina) by the time of 1860's and for much more than that, there was civil wars pretty much similar to the American Civil War. Ans so in many other places worldwide. That is probably the reason why we watch these movies, they are so identified with times we know; you only change the language or add subtitles and it's the same or nearly the same; plus some good music, good generation of actors and good director, and there you have a perfect combo. Movies from the 60's and 70's when, although they were popular, they had quality. Nowadays what is popular not always has quality or viceversa.... Violent, wild moment when guns proved more useful than laws or words; that's what these western moves represent.

@@diegoargibay2287 I agree with you but there is not film called "For a fistful of dollars" (You mean either "A fistful of dollars", or "For a few dollars more") and that the release dates you put are in fact these: A fistfull of Dollars (1964) For A Few Dollars More (1965) The Good The Bad And The Ugly (1966)
@diegoargibay22873 жыл бұрын
@@redtrychguy8676 English is not my primary language, just was translating from spanish, which is ''Por unos dolares mas'' or ''Por un puñado de dolares'' (the movie with Gian Maria Volonte, Lee Van Cleef and Clint Eastwood). The release dates given are just for context; by the way, many times a film was filmed in 1965-66 but released in 1966-7, plus the release dates are not the same for all countries.

Colt 1873 also called ''Frontier'' or ''Peacemaker'' as it was regular weapon for US sheriffs. In this movie, the gun used by Lee Van Cleef's character is a Colt 1861 navy or similar, with wooden buttstock, which can be added and transform the revolver in a small carbine. The rifle used by Clint Eastwood's characters in the final duel scene, seems to be a Henry 1862 rifle, or maybe a Winchester 1873. Yeah, what a nice bunch of guns. Very artistic weapons, pieces of art, rather than famous.

There is no better experience than watching live music accompany a film in real time. It takes great effort to pull this off, with many months of planning and rehearsals. Many years ago, in NYC, I watched the NY Symphony do, what was billed at the time, as "Bugs Bunny in The Park". The NY Symphony played all of the greatest musical pieces, Beethoven, Mozart, Bach, Chopin, Debussy, played them all! All recreated as the cartoon played on a giant screen, like with this great Sergio Leone Western. Sure, Bugs Bunny sounds silly until you see how amazing it can be. It was one of the greatest things I've ever seen in my life! I'm sure the people at this show feel the same.
