And Enrico Morricone had never visited the US and of course never experienced the southwest his music glamorize. What an imaginative genius to know and understand the flavor of the old southwest, the mountains and arroyos, the feel of hot desert wind, the sand in the face, the scorching heat, the mystery and the dangers. He captured it all in his music.

I mean he'd probably been to the Spanish desert at some point.
@ms.annthrope415 Жыл бұрын
I'm sure he had, and you are right. But beyond the blistering sands of thr desert is the border life and flavors of the American southwest, the cowboy and Indian myths, the Mexican border town feel, the John Ford western movies, Monument Valley, stage coaches driving across dusty trails. The myths of the Colt Single Action Army, Colt Walker revolver, the .45 Long Colt, the .44-40, the Winchester lever action.

Henry that looks like a Winchester
@obviouspseudonym93454 жыл бұрын
@@dannymiller3315 Technically Winchesters look like Henrys. Henry designed the rifle, Oliver Winchester owned the New Haven Arms Co. They were working together, but Henry one day decided he wasn't the amount of money he deserved, so he took Winchester to court and wanted to be given ownership of the company. Winchester (being a savvy businessman while Henry wasn't) relinquished the company, but the patents were still legally belonging to him. So basically Henry kinda got screwed and left with an empty husk of a company, while Oliver Winchester went on to found the Winchester Repeating Arms Co. Eventually Winchester released the 1866 Rifle, which a Henry rifle with a drastically improved magazine using the King's loading gate patent. The Easy way to identify a Henry 1860 rifle is the magazine. The design prohibits the addition of a wooden handguard.

I was born in 1967 so a year after the movie came out but remember watching it with my parents as a young child. So many memories. Eli Wallach running around looking for the grave with Arch Stanton on it until the viewer starts to go dizzy and then Lee Van Cleef appears and throws a spade at Eastwood and the big stand off with the music for The Trio. Truly magnificent.

For years the other kids in music class used to make fun of him because he played the ocarina, the horn section would bully him, the big tuba kid would push him around, the flutes and the oboes would poke him, even the lowly choir kids would ridicule him. This was the day he finally had his sweet revenge. Here's to you Mr. ocarina guy.

Ennio Morricone... what genius to write these ballads that overshadow the movies... and what genius the Danish National Symphony Orchestra does that supersedes all other versions of the Sergio Leone's Spaghetti Western theme songs.. Awesome is the word.. now I want to buy this entire concert series... DVD.. google time...
@kevinmorrice6 жыл бұрын
ennio morricone would start the film with just a whistle, as the character grows, so does the music, by the end of the film you have a full orchestra, its a subconscious response that makes you feel more emotions as you get to know the character

Wonderful. Sublime music from a genius beautifully recreated by an amazing orchestra. I have seen the dollar trilogy dozens of times and my favourite film ever is The Good the Bad & the Ugly. I have been to Andalusia in southern Spain many times, especially the Taberna desert where much of the films were shot. I have even visited a tiny hamlet in the middle of nowhere, which is essentially a tomato farm now that once was ‘Agua Caliante’ in a few Dollars More. Thank goodness for this orchestra.
