Thanks for the great work of the Jazzclub Schlot team, especially John Kunkeler ! And thanks Marcel Potters for the wonderful video, which captures the incredibly intense atmosphere between the audience and the band FFH in the Jazzclub Schlot !!!
In the past, FOR FREE HANDS was booked for the Jazz au Chellah festival in Morocco, together with the request to realize a project with the Moroccan oud virtuoso ALAA ZOUITEN. The concert in front of 2000 people was so successful that we decided to develop our musical encounter further. In this constellation, musicians from 5 nations are actually on stage. Our wonderful new album "The passing on of the fire" was released in September 2023 by our record company Laika Records. And I am very pleased that our CD was the "Jazz album of the week!" on NDR Kultur in October '23.
The concert at Jazzclub Schlot was again totally sold out! The Dutch video artist Marcel Potters heard our super-intensive concert at the "Nordhäuser Jazzfrühling" festival on 26.04.24 and offered to edit previously recorded concerts for us. We are very happy about this new co-operation.
Press: In the meantime, we have already received several good reviews, including in the renowned jazz magazine JAZZTHING. “Rhythmically sophisticated pieces delight the ears of even the most demanding listener, beautiful melodies characterize the compositions. Diverse, colorful, grooving, casual - the five musicians from five countries offer a catchy, urban jazz with a good portion of oriental ingredients."
Furthermore, our FFH CD "The passing on of the fire" was also CD of the week at jazz-fun.de in October: "Andreas Brunn makes use of a broad instrumental arsenal on a work peppered with fresh material. The result is a great album in the border area between jazz and fusion with jazz-rock excursions. I like the guitarist's nimble solos in combination with the saxophone, which is supported by Alaa Zouiten's oud. A great album, we are thrilled!"

Ihr macht aber tolle Musik, For Free Hands & Alaa Zouiten! Ganz schön komplexe Sachen, die für mich als Aleatorikrhythmiker 🤣 unspielbar sind. Ich war 1981 zum ersten Mal in Marokko, bis runter in den Atlas, und ich liebe die Oud, die Musik der Berber und auch die westafrikanische Musik sehr, die sich schon sehr oft mit Rock, Blues, Jazz, kreativ verbunden hat. Was ihr da spielt klingt ... echt! Weil es eben kein "Weltmusik-Klischee-Zirkus" ist (gegen den bin ich seit Jahrzehnten allergisch), sondern ... Open Minded Jazz! R.E.S.P.E.C.T. 🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻

Herzlichen Dank für Deine guten Zeilen, Lothar. 🙏Wir spielten mir For Free Hands 2015 in Rabat und hatten dort die Aufgabe mit Alaa Zouiten ein Programm zu erarbeiten. Dies war dann so ein geniales Konzert! Betreff Rhythmik: Ich arbeite auch als TaKeTiNa Lehrer und kann alle Polyrhytmiken sprechen, dies hilft sehr. 👏 Ich liebe es, die tollen Musiken der Welt aufzugreifen und dann etwas Neues damit zu machen. Und meine Kollegen sind da echt voll dabei. Dies zu spielen und zu hören macht uns glücklich.🍀
