Hank Jr didn't write it, but he dous do a very good version of "Come & go blues". Greg Allman wrote it & has his own version of the song. Both are similar, both are great. Otherwise some great Hank Jr songs are "Mr Weatherman", "The American way", "Ain't been able", & "Mr Lincoln " are just a few. I dont know if he wrote each of them but they are all his songs. They are all great.

@@AppalachianRedRoots What?? What's your source? Lol Hank Williams Jr wrote and recorded it first in 1980. Even one of the first lines "But my name's a reminder of a blues man that's already gone," which is a clear reference to Hank Williams Sr, is evidence that Hank Jr wrote and recorded it first. George Jones didn't record his version until 2005. That's a quarter of a century later. Hell, even Alan Jackson recorded it before George Jones. "Real country boy here"?.. Not after that claim. Your "country boy" card has been revoked after that false claim. 😂

I'm originally from Noblesville Indiana. There's an ampatheater there. I saw Bocephus (Hank Jr.) perform there. A few nights later I had tickets to see Van Halen. Eddie comes to the mic and says, "Unfortunately our drummer can't perform tonight because he developed food poisoning. Don't worry though, because we have a guest that was kind enough to join us on one of his days off touring. Ladies and gentlemen, Hank Williams Jr." He tore those drums up!

Hanks biggest battle in life was everyone expecting him to be just like his dad. As he was maturing he wanted to start doing things with music in his own way, and a lot of people turned their back on him for it. I think he found a great balance of his dad and himself eventually and he became his own legend. No artist ever had me as star struck as Bocephus as he walked on stage and had a living legend look and vibe to him as he owned the stage and audience. Saw him 6 times so far.

By the time Bocephus was 30 he had lived more than most of us at 50. The man lived through drug overdoses and alcohol addiction, fell of a Montana mountain and should have died, he been through it all. He lived the life of a true traveling musician and true blue hell raiser, he is a living legend and one of the last true outlaws.

HANK Williams Sr passed away from an overdose when he was 3. HANK Sr was THE country legend of the 40’s/50’s and was only 29 at his death. A lot of folks wanted him to copy his dad, but he had friends in both rock and country who were pushing him to be his own singer. The perceived battle with his dad’s ghost was a big reason for his drug and alcohol abuse.

Hank Sr had a deformed spine and attempted rodeo riding, that made it worse. He drank and did drugs partly for pain relief. Hank Jr indulged, but did slow with time despite having years of surgeries after an almost fatal 500 foot fall off of Ajax Mountain in Montana, the trade mark hat, shades and beard are covering scars from skin grafts and a glass eye

Hank Williams Jr. was a young boy when his daddy died and his mama pushed him to sing his daddy's song on stage. She wanted him to take his daddy's place on stage. He finally grew up enough to rebel. He did not want to be a substitute for his dad. He wanted to sing his own songs and to sing the way he wanted. He managed to break free and has his own career. For a long time he avoided his daddy's song but he finally more or less made his peace with who he was and who his dad was. He has even made a video of him singing with his dad like they were actually singing together. This was something he was never able to do in real life. I saw it once years ago but I really do not remember the song but it should still be out there somewhere. He and Kid Rock are friends.

Actually it was his mother who taught him the music business. She groomed him to take the stage at 8 years old in 1957 to be a mini Hank Sr. His stage mannerisms, his vocal inflections and delivery. In his teens he started listening to what all the other teens listened to. Rock and Roll. He still played country but his future was to combine them. He learned so many instruments from stars who came to his house when his mother would throw a party. ALL the big country, pop and early rock stars showed up and doted on little Hank. When he was 14 he went to Hollywood and cut several of his fathers songs for a movie soundtrack about his father's life. Your Cheating Heart. Listen to "Born to Boogie" by Hank Jr. It covers a lot of his life.

You say it takes most people a lot longer than 30 to take a look at themselves and see they can do better. That's true. However, the stuff Hank Jr. did and went through by age 30 would probably take most folks 50 or 60 years to experience, He led a rather wild and out of control life very early on. Thank God he took a step back. And thanks to the support of his wife through all of it.

The Hank William's Jr Story would be a movie worth watching,It started Richard Thomas,It went from Jr's early years to His return after falling on a Mountain side on a hunting trip nearly killing Him,Losing an eye,Multiple plastic surgery operations,Laying there in recovery I'm sure was the birth of many songs.

Hank wrote this song for George Jones. It was released at a low point in Jones life when his wife Nancy came along and saved his life. Hence the Nick name ‘No Show Jones’, and the lyrics “I got cuffed on dirt roads, I got sued over no-shows”

Some of his songs that he wrote, he actually didn't finish until the last 1/3rd of his life. It's a tribute to the life.

I'm probably late to the game, but .... Back in the late 80's when Bocephus (Hank Williams Jr) was winning back to back CMA Entertainer of the year awards, he would play every instrument on the stage at least once. and his name is a reminder of his Daddy... Hank Williams Sr. the original traveling cowboy.

Oh man!!! Finally someone reacts to this one!!! “Country boy can Survive” and this one are my favorites- ok, let’s get to it.. (I was like 😯and immediately commented first) And you just gotta see “Living Proof The HWJ movie”- this man had to relearn everything after falling from a MOUNTAIN cliff- - they had to put his face back together like a puzzle- literally! (hence the now iconic beard and glasses) this song was after the incident when he tried to become a recluse in a cabin in the mountains- the movie shows it ALL- 💙👍✌️. PS - I see a lot of folks mentioning Alan Jackson’s cover- I must agree! However, please do the live version with Hank Jr. and fam sitting front row watching Alan Jackson do it- Great stuff!!! Again, the movie is fantastic!!👍✌️

Hank Died when Hank Jr was three. His mama, Audrey, dressed him like his daddy and made him sing Hank’s music. At one point he was so far gone he fell down a mountain essentially on his face. He was carrying on the family tradition, also a song. Hank was gone before 30 and Bocephus was on track to follow his daddy.

Hank Jr was only 3 years old when his Daddy died. He had a tough road growing up in the shadow of a imperfect man he never really knew, that so many loved. He had a terrible accident that smashed his face up & nearly killed him, falling in the traps of fame, bucking”The System”carving out his career roads, drugs,& life. Not too long ago, he lost his daughter. This song was for wife #2, who’s loved him for Him-Not the Myth, or the Glitter & Gold.

Also Hank Jr. was in a horrific auto accident and he almost died,he was drunk, his father Hank Sr was a hard drink man, so Jr did as he saw and thought that's what you do, you party hard! He almost lost everything, lawsuits because he was too drunk to get to the show and busted for pot. So much of his persona was from his dad, whom he idolized, Jhonny Cash was around as Jr was coming up. To have him alive and able to be that cautionary tale for ppl like Kid Rock & other's is awesome!! Hank sings; 'Tell me Hank, why do ya drink? &The crowd yells, TO GET DRUNK!! Hank sings; 'Why do you roll smoke?' crowd: TOO GET STONED!!! Great memories of a great concert and a great man!
