Made with Knight faction shield, but may be possible to be successful in using these instructions for other factions emblem shapes. For Viking circle emblem, try lowering all the co-ordinates an amount in the Y to fit the wingtips in better.

At 0:08, you can see the specific background type used being ticked (small black triangle popping out bottom of white square). With normal transform settings, it would look similar to the icon, but with the ones shown at 0:15, it's morphed dramatically so that you "break" the intended pattern.

What was your S2 symbol? It was skipped in the video.

It's at 0:25, an upside down kite symbol similar to S3, just slight different rotation.

If it helps, you can use slower plaback speed and use shift < or > to skip forward and back frame amounts.
