I've always had tons of requests from people asking me to make my own nobushi video, and it's finally here! I'll be going over everything from neutral openings, to parry punishes, to oos punishes. Matchup knowledge in the next video!

Don't forget that she's a huge highlander counter. Hidden stance completely shuts down kick to grab because you can use hidden stance for the kick, then dodge the grab for a free GB.

This guide will help me put immensely. Started off as a warden main but after 12 reps, got bored and switched to Lawbringer. However, his state right now is not so great, so I decided to give Nobushi a try because Naginata strats and now I'm a fairly decent Nobushi, but I feel like I'm missing some stuff. Nobu can also use delayed sidewinder heavies and cobra strikes as dodge attacks and also as semi effective openers as its very difficult to tell which attack is coming as the first frames of the attack just look like a side dodge, and unfortunately in the recent patch the fixed a bug that would stack guard switches on static guard heros after the hit stun of an attack which allowed nobu to get free kicks after poking with a light or interupting certain bash attacks.

She is such a great character. Her Hidden Stance into dodge is perfect for those Wardens who charge up the shoulder bash, aswell as Highlander's kick into grab. Not to mention Hidden Stance into double light can easily get rid of Shugoki's Hyper armor, then follow up with any combo after a kick. Thanks to this guide ive learned a think or two. Thanks!

Just figured I would add that if you are trying to pressure with the kick, then switching between an actual kick and GB, you may find it hard to get the GB, making this pressure null, however I found that if you use a light and heavy and an opponent anticipates a kick and dodges, if you do a vipers retreat straight after that initial attack, it seems to catch dodgers well, especially when they dodge backwards.

Mr Count, I was going against a Lawbro, and he could shove before the guaranteed kick from hidden stance heavy. Love the guide, gone back to it about 20 times so far, trying to learn the punishes etc

Lawbringer and nobushi are the only ones who can stop nobushi after confirming a hidden stance heavy; lawbringer with shove on block, and nobushi with swift recoil. Both require stamina, so she still has a small form of out of stamina pressure in these matchups

She is the only hero in the game that can faint lights (wich makes her lights pretty safe) and,he can counter a lot of stuff with his hidden stance.For example: --> Warden: Top heavy unblockable: If they go for gb,or for letting it fly,if you use the hidden stance,you will always win. If they go for the gb,you can just counter gb. And if they let it fly,you will dodge the attack and get the double light.This works for every unblockable in the game,so thats incredibly strong. Also you can escape from vortex.Even if they charge it completly,you can dodge from hidden stance and avoid it on reaction. So you make Warden,one of the better heroes on the game useless,becouse he doesnt have real openers against you.

Rubén Chiquin It also makes parry attempts safe as well. Met a very good Nobushi player a while back (We are now friends :D ) who would go into hs instead of hard feinting a parry attempt, making her parry attempts absolutely safe, whether it be from a follow up gb or quick attack, he could either counter gb or dodge the attack. I couldn’t touch him.

even if the feinted light is attempted to be parried nobu still doesnt get any guranteed damage. If you always go for the parry youll never lose against nobu unfortunately.

Hidden stance acts as the first move in a chain, so you get hits two and three of the light chain. They're essentially the same but hidden lights are safer.

All my heavies get parried 95% of the time and im not even in high tier gameplay how are you even getting these heavies off to start combos lol, 30 to 40% of the time my lights get parried to so I try to hidden stance and 50 50 with dash attacks and cancels into guardbreak alot, the suprise kick helps

None of those really work against better players. Heavy kick is easily dodged if your opponent knows you have the option, and if they're paying attention it's easy to differentiate heavy/kick against heavy/heavy, meaning that it isn't really a 50/50. Heavy delayed kick is good, and I think I mention it in the guide. Heavy > GB isn't a thing.

How would u buff Nobushi? Obviously speed up her lights and Heavy's. What about a crushing counter? Or a top unblockable that can be soft faited into a bleed? lets say like Kensai has but kensai isnt a bleed. Make it where her zone can come from the left or right. Lets say like the new Jiang Jin has. Maybe her hidden stance can give her stamina like the Jiang Jun has. Maybe a nutrual kick. I dont know just ideas. But for sure her haveys & lights need speeded up. She needs an opener. What about making her zone unblockable and like Jiang Jun. In nutrual it come out one direction in hidden stance it come out the opposite. Ofcorse it would need speeded up to at least 500ml. They can use this idea or just give her a hole new move thats an unblockable. Why so u can get a reaction out of your opponent. Id say it has to be unblockable and have a faint ablility to be affective. I dont believe she needs a hole rework. Take Warden as a perfect example. Slight speed buff 2 knew move and he went strait to S tear. The same goes for Nobushi. She's good like Warden but like Warden she just needs that unblockable with mixup potential to put her in S or A tear. The same can be said for Centurion. Faint his zone steed up his kick give him a side dash heavy, light or Punch and he'll be good. Gladiator fix his reflex Guard. Give him something off his perry punch. Sorry i cant think of the name of it. But Gladiator players know what im talking about. U perry and his square for a stun bunch. Do that and he'll be good. Lawbringer. Speed him up lights & heavys. Give him a dash attack like Warden. One natrual unblockable and he'll be good. Speed is good but not everything. Example Warden may be a little slower then Orochi. But that unblocable top heavy that can be fainted. Destroys Orochi speed. Orochi and Peace keeper are perfect example. U leave them alone just give them one Unblockable from nutrual that can be fainted and they'd both be S tear characters. They have the speed and mixup potential. They just lack the opener. Look at Kensai. Most agree he's balance. Look he's slower the Orochi and Peace keeper but the zone unblockable option and the pommel strike gives him the openers he needs. Same with Warden in my open 1 or 2 moves makes a big difference especially if its an unblocable u can get a reaction out of & still have the speed and mixup options with all your other move set. We'll thats my idea's and suggestions. Some I've heard from other resources and u tubers. Whats your ideas. Did u like any of my suggestions. I'm a Concoror main but I have been since launch. I didnt hop on the ban wagon. I've been with Concoror since launch. I play Concoror, Warden, Lawbringer, Peace Keeper, Centurion, Gladiator, Kensai, Orochi, Nobushi, Shinobi, Aramusha & Valkyrie. I think you're trying to make her way better than she has to be. When considering changing a character, you have to really understand what makes them tick in a certain light; in our case it'd be the 1v1 department, since she's absolutely ridiculous in "true" 2v2s and 4v4 modes (mainly Dominion). When it comes to XvX fights, her bleed pokes, long range, safe heavy damage with side-locked sidewinders, and chip damage all make her good in a fight, and in Dominion she can hold mid incredibly well by clearing minions. Now that we know it's the 1v1 department she needs help in, we want to focus on things that make her better in that regard but don't tip the scales of balance. What are her current problems? She has the best defensive option in the game that's immune to CGB, can be dodged out of, and can feint her openers. It doesn't really need to be touched defensively; if you lower the stamina requirement on it, then she becomes even better to turtle with. If you increase her stamina regen, the same happens. What lacks in her kit is a proper offense; although kick was buffed, it's still very obvious when a Nobushi can and can't do it, and is fairly easy to dodge when you're paying attention. The little pressure she does have is in her Hidden Stance heavies, kicks, and feinted guardbreaks, and making your opponent guess incorrectly gives you damage, but at the cost of a ton of your own stamina. Let's go over your suggestions bit by bit, and take in mind that these are my personal opinions: Crushing counterstrike: Giving her a superior block isn't really gonna fix the problem that she currently has, which is offense. It gives her another defensive tool that can flip tempo in a fight and put pressure on the opponent, sure, but it still requires your opponent to act first, and she doesn't have any kind of chain, mixup, or neutral pressure. Even if she gets this kind of thing, what does she do with it? Valkyrie gets to go into her fast chains, highlander gets offensive stance, warlord still has his headbutt/unlock pressure. Nobushi has none of that. Top unblockable to bleed: Not every character needs an unblockable in their kit. That's how the game gets muddled into guessing, and if that was the intention, then this should never have been a reaction-based fighter in the first place. Directional/unblockable zone: The ability to change zone direction would only buff her in brawl and 4v4 settings, making her even better as your opponent can't play your opposite side. Making her zone unblockable would mean she becomes a huge pain to fight in 1v1s and downright broken in 2v2/4v4 modes, and reminds us of the time where unlockable moves were also unparriable. No character can feint their zone either without at least letting a hit fly. This doesn't sit right with me. Hidden Stance stamina: Now she turtles even more and even safer than before. This is a bad idea. If you want to touch hidden stance stamina, you have to find a way that either rewards offensive use of hidden stance, or penalizes defensive use of hidden stance. Neutral kick: She (kinda) has this with Hidden Stance > Kick. With the way things are now, letting her kick out of neutral would make her neutral pressure incredibly similar to what Gladiator has now with zone attack. I don't know if this is the way to go. The Warden treatment: While it is true that a few more options made him way more appealing, his identity was still intact. The buffs that he was given allowed him to play his "ideal game" better than he could, but didn't change his identity. he's not Nobushi. Try not to mix the two, because if you gave Nobushi 2 new moves and a bit of neutral pressure, you could risk breaking the entire game. She already has Hidden Stance, which makes her defense arguably the best in the game; to counteract that, you need to find a way to give her offense that is good, but not so good that she becomes the next broken flavor of the month. (Not gonna comment on other characters here, because I don't know them as well as Nobushi.) I think I'll be making a video pretty soon about what I think Nobushi should get in the buff department. Nobushi is the one character where there’s not really any combos to use. She mainly relies on her lights and heavys. Just be sure you don’t spam light attack because the opponent will start parrying it so mix in a heavy now and again to trick them up.

Technically, I went over two chains (heavy heavy, light heavy) but realistically combos are almost always parried if you follow through. It's much safer and more rewarding to not follow through with combos and instead go for something that will make your opponent take an action, whether that's dodging, swinging, or parrying.

LightningCount I’m sry but what’s your keyboard setting for hidden stance? Cuz I found “c” is a little bit hard to press when your during a fight

c is not so bad actually for me. well its different for everyone :P

I use C, but any button should be fine honestly. You'd probably find a lot of success if you had a mouse button to bind it to if C isn't working out, but it's really a matter of getting used to it.

Nobushi lights have a pretty distinct animation, making them kinda easy to parry if you're paying attention. Also, kicks are unsafe when dodged for the most part (some exceptions, but you can always eat a light or a bash off a whiffed one). It all depends on the level of opponent you're up against.

Yes it is. I'm a rep 39 Nobushi and I get a cobra strike every time off of the kick.

side light starters are 500 ms, top lights are 600. Because of this, I'll hold my guard at left (mostly preference, because sometimes I'll use zone, which comes from the right).

All lights out of hidden stance are 500 ms, side light starters are 500 ms, top light starters are 600 ms, and any followup lights for her chains are 600 ms. If you're following through with a second side light, don't.

Kicks are pretty ridiculous if you don't know when/where she can do them, for sure. Once you figure out when to look for them, though, it all becomes a matter of practice!

I wonder how the Warden player didn't parry every of your attacks. Nobushi is easily parried. I always have to faint for my life to get anything done with her.

This guide is really meant for 1v1 duel situations. Revenge isn't an option.

@@Git_Gronostaj oos parry punishes still come up in duels. If you have an opponent out of stamina, as nobushi you can use her hidden stance heavy kick confirm to bait out a parry attempt. In most cases, though, they'll opt for a dodge.

Well I'm asking than: when this bait will succeed and you will parry OOS opponent, and he falls to the ground - what is optimal punish for max damage in this situation?

If the opponent isn't bleeding and you didn't use your right side to parry, then the same as an OOS throw punish. If the opponent is bleeding or you used your right side to parry, then it's a heavy on the side you parried into top heavy.

Not sure how often she pops up in duels on console, but she's almost non-existent on PC duels. We need more!

There's not allot on console,but being a new player (as of the recent free gold sale) I see a few that bleed poke and run away if they get beat hard enough

I use nobushi and I'm still practicing the hidden stance but its pretty easy to punish ppl, people who are heavys I just parry and the get smacked and people who use really fast attacks I keep distance. I don't poke runaway poke runaway

I wish I ran into mod nobushi players on PC. Centurion’s seem to be what I fight the most
