use guard break more often to create openings for heavy attacks or combos. Dash in then guard break when the NPC is just standing there

unblockable attacks that have to do with the weapon (sword, spear, axe etc) can still be parried or deflected by any character. that's why they call it a "unblockable attack"

The game itself is relatively fast-paced and challenging, very similar to Bloodborne or in a way, Dark Souls series I guess. It's probably the best for you to watch or play it yourself to get a feel for it.

you run away from him and he will stop chasing you, then you heal and go at him again for a few hits. Appolyon was significantly easier than this guy, even in the narrow spaces where there was no escape.
