That's my problem with him. I used to really enjoy Warden back in Season 1, but as I became better it became really unfulfilling to play with him. I ended up moving into Raider.

13:45 I agree with that. People forget that the 3 vanguards are technically meant to be the starter heros also, not just Warden. Which is why they are unlocked when u first boot up the game. They kind of already broke that rule with the Kensei rework though, so still making Warden basic after his rework would be pointless imo. Some don't pick him up after the tutorial anyways.

This would be exactly what Warden needs. Taking ideas from Apollyon's moves and expanding on them along with Warden's base kit. It adds a load of choices and variety that would be good for new players and veterans, keeping Warden at a good position in both low and high tier play.

Softfeinted heavy into bash...really nice idea i also agreed with 500ms side lights and i really think Blinding Strike should be a new move for warden since the fighting style of this hero is fitting the Guard Strike to the opponent, Stab charge remind me POLLON's moveset ;D Anyway! Gj keep it up!

+ Francisco Del Coro That should be made differently of course but yeah... That's the idea... Also both other Vanguard heros have a move that stun the ennemy (Kensei's Pommel strike and or Guard Break and Raider Pommel Strike). So just for that, Warden should have one too to stay in the tune you know ? Just like all Tanks have a lot of HP or all assassin have side attack after a dodge/ a dash.

I agree on everything you said, but I would add two more things. 1=Crushing Counterstrike on all directions, like Highlander, with nerfed attack power but still able to chain it in Shoulder Bash. 2=Hyper Armor on the top heavy. All of this combined would make Warden finally fun to play ;)

I think warden should have 3 stances. Stance 1 , normal sword mode. Stance 2, halfswording. Warden grabs half way up his blade and focuses more on thrusts and his guard break is a bash with the guard , does minor stamina damage and blinds the opponent for a few seconds. Stance 3 , mordhau or hammer strike. Warden grabs the blade and flips his sword so it becomes a pseudo warhammer. The attacks from this stance will be slow , unblockable, but cost an extreme amount of stamina to use

Warden: There's worse heroes in the game that need a rework that can't cancel there unblockable bash. Raider: Definitely needs more options but, is still viable. Kensai: He's in a good place since his rework. Conquerer: Don't even play enough of them to even know. Warlord: Still pretty good, definitely wouldn't say it's high priority to rework him. Shugoki: He's at the top of the list for heroes who actually NEED a rework Peacekeeper: Why did they not increase her stamina and bleed damage after the rework Beserker: hyper armor it EXTREMELY strong on assassins Orochi: He should've got his damage lowered along with a slight cool down between some of his attacks from storm rush Lawbringer: he's in a good place Valkeryie: Up on the list of heroes who NEED a rework Nobushi: Don't play enough people who play her Centurion: people actually defend this hero saying he's not OP when he confirms roughly 60% damage off a simple wall splat Highlander: not more or less Shinobi: This man needs a rework after being wrongfully nerfed in the first place. Why doesn't his front flip unblockable bash cause a wall splat? Gladiator: Just me or this guy's forward dash attack skip frames? Shaman: Busted character thats needs more nerfs Imo Aramusha: another hero who people just don't play enough of One of the biggest problems Imo of this game especially in team modes, are moves that you're animation locked in. Shugoki's demon embrace, Shinobi's sickle rain, centurions lion pounce, shaman's pouncing attacks whatever the Fucks that called. All these if done you are stuck in the animation to which the other team can just whale on you and the animation won't be broken. If you get GB and you counter you stuck in the occurring animation and vulnerable to get hit. Just to name a few

I gotta disagree with some points, but not for specific technicalities. First thing I gotta talk about is the zone, I don’t know if the FH devs originally intended zones to clear minions either, but I think warden zone is not appropriate his position as an vanguard. Vanguards in my opinion are supposed to be “gankspankers”, and the recovery and hit box of his zone doesn’t represent that. It plays out more like warlord or orochis zone in practice, but with even worse recovery, you waste so much time in revenge after using zones in revenge. And I know somebody is gonna be like “hur dur” you target swap with shoulder bash, but it’s honestly unreliable in that regard, he needs a better aoe attack imo. I’m all for the idea of warden getting rid of vortex, my solution was to just give him a better neutral bash, but I honestly like your idea better. Ultimately I agree with your overall concept of warden needing to move away from the passive playstyle and the “easy” character. I literally sigh every time I get a heavy parried by warden “like wow congrats dude, you can parry heavies, time to eat a bar of damage and roll away”. It’s so fucking boring I don’t know how anyone can find anything fulfilling in their experience as warden as a character (and this is coming from a guy who’s mained warlord since release). But I hope you have the loudest voice in the screaming shitfests that are rework suggestions. Because half the time it’s just people talking about “hur dur I wanna opener on LB hur dur”, like sure just give LB a warlord headbutt, that will fix the turtling!!!!!1!!11!! I really, really want fighting characters like LB and warden not to be a headache, they did it with kensei and conq (conq is a headache for different reason now though to be fair), so I hope to see the same with warden and LB because I see them fundamentally as played by the same type of passive players. But good video man, I almost want to redo my warlord rework video to be something more coherent like this.

yung malaria warlord is even more passive than warden, I’m a day one warden main and having watched both our characters fall from glory I think warlord is in just as much of a need of a buff but at-least warden can follow a heavy with a heavy or light with a light, warlords the most predictable son of a bitch their is these days. Sb is very rewarding if you get good with it as it’s all about figuring out your opponents patterns and double light of a heavy parry is hardly a big whoop when over half the assassins can do that too.

Pododododo Ehoh I honestly disagree, even the highest level warlord turtles will attempt a heavy from neutral or from a light chain, I don’t think I’ve seen a character typically played more passive besides warden and LB. Warlord actually used to be a well-rounded hero where warden has always lacked depth really outside of canceling you SB and baiting for crushing counter. But yeah neither of them are as effective as they used to be, but that will hopefully change for the better.

Sad thing is that lawbringer,warden and warlord are 3 of the most borderline infurating opponents to fight if one doesnt have an opener,and at the same time lawbringer gets completly stumped by anyobody with a bash I would love to see warden as the master with a longsword,utilizing diffrent guards for diffrent attributes Lawbringer as being a man that could truly use his armor to his advantage to trade and bash through opponents without fear of a gust of wind knocking him on his ass non stop

Leaving a heart because this comment actually leads to an interesting answer. When the opponent is OOS Warden has a sort of “vortex”. If he connects SB he can use blinding strike followed by a light. Now, since the opponent is OOS, even if they block the light, warden can still chain into SB, as Oos guard didn’t interrupt light attacks!

Mege Or what if Stab Charge could down an OOS opponent (kinda like cents light into grab). This could create an crazy 50/50 where they either guess the stab charge and dodge SB or they guess wrong and warden feints into GB. So its either a 55 damage or Wardens GB throw with whatever the new max punish would be. I don't think the side and top heavy should be max punish on throw. Just top heavy.

周开鸿 in case of Orochi, it's just the same hero. No "OP" at all. And PK can still be played in the same way as before. Just with a bit less damage, wich was not the strong part. The Hope is that they *actually* Rework heroes, and not just pretend they did by adding slightly faster moves. This "rework" Just made things worse in all senses. With Zerk they actually made the Turtle meta the only way to fight against and Kensei can be interupted in all of his new moves by any 500ms atack. They can't administrate the characters we already have. Adding more of them just makes it more worrying and harder to believe they'll actually be able to properly balance the characters.

I've already read your reddit post before seeing this video, either way, I love everything about this suggestions especially the new moves. I've sadly fallen out of love of Warden but still wish to play him, any of these changes would keep him as the "tutorial character" and make him fun to play

Very good ideas, Mege. It still keeps the Warden a simple character, keeping the Vanguard status intact, but giving him some complexity to his neutral game and taking the vortex out. It also ads to his character with Warden's Valor: a movement in wich Warden's cold skilled style gets overthrown by his emotions and will to battle! It basically substitutes in a much more interesting way the charged SB free top Heavy! I'm absolutely on par and think this would make him more Warden than the Warden se already have ;).

Started maining Warden 'cause of you and learned a lot from you. Thank you for all the work you put into these videos. rework is needed yes, and I do agree with most of the things u say but I'd like you think about that shouting move you mentioned. Although it might seem like a good idea but we already have enough unblockables. Ganking and fighting multiple people at the same time is annoying enough without that :D but I do agree that shinobi is a problem (not only for warden) and something has to be done to it. Everything else...perfection. I'd like to see ubi take these ideas into consideration. Love you man. Keep up the good work

Honestly, on the Warden's Valor thing, I'd say change it up a bit to be similar to Apollyon's unblockable side attack, though without the SB charge. Have it something like, the Warden dodges forward or backwards, and can do the one handed overhead (dealing around 35 to 40 damage) that she uses against you when you're fighting her with Orochi in the last mission of the campaign, and is able to be chained into a second heavy from that in any direction (recovery from getting hit by the first would be long enough so that the second would be able to be blocked, but not quite enough time to parry outside of characters with hyper armor active when they get hit by the first), or dodge to the side and get the unblockable side heavy to deal 50 damage, with any chain being slightly delayed, similar to Nobushi's side dodge attack into kick, where there's a good second or two between when the dodge attack connects and when she can throw a kick from it.

I would switch the damage values of stab charge and blinding strike because it doesn’t make sense for light attacks to do more damage than heavies. Warden’s Valor is an interesting idea but might need adjusting but is very interesting! I would love this as a Warden change!

I understand what you mean, but Orochi's new Riptide strike (a light) does more damage than his Storm rush (an heavy) :) I think something similiar also applies to Lawbringer's light riposte/impaling riposte The thing with stab charge is that it can confirm more damage with the right situation :)

I genuinely think this should be implemented as Warden's rework, seeing that it actually all makes legitimate sense and works with the rest of the cast's move sets and can't really be considered too little or too much. - Blinding strike idea is neat, but it should be a heavy start-up soft feint (like shaman's) that can chain into a SB instead of being a SB mix-up. - Side heavy start-up into SB is absolutely *brilliant* , and I think that side heavies (not the SB) should have hyper armor because of that. - Heavy charge thingy should be more like centurion's charged heavy and can only be initiated after a successful SB, since it can ledge and wall splat. - The thing where you can run at someone with a 500 ms, 50 damage top unblockable heavy is a little absurd, so that's a no, but the charged SB should give warden an unblockable top heavy that does something like that. - I was thinking that since Warden has such a hard time catching up to assassins and such, his zone should reworked so that there is a start-up animation that gets you close to your opponent (like a charge) and then you can choose to feint or cancel it or throw the zone from the left or right guards, this will allow you to catch up to your opponent while your opponent can react more easily to your "OP" zone. - Since SB would have insane mix-up potential because of all this stuff, I think it should take half or a third of your total stamina each time you use it to make spam more difficult. P.S. the damage tuning in the video should also apply to the rework. That's pretty much it, good ideas, Mege!

This is a perfect rework. Being a warden main myself (rep 12) I think Warden deserves is. Not just because he is underpowered but he is quite boring now!

Tom Hughes I main a Cent and Valk. I agree Warden needs some help. He's underwhelming, much like the old Valk, but with a bit more damage. His kit is too easy to read at times and he seems limited in the current position. I think he needs some love to keep up at this point

As a Warden main, I still hope that the vortex will stay and won't suffer major changes. And seeing the new rework and how dev tried to give more options but never to actually nerf some things (PK nerf were only dammage, they didn't remove any mecanics), I think it won't.

Really like the idea, but I also feel as if he needs different openers. You still have to depend on a 50/50 and it's just not something I like in the game. Sometimes you win as warden just because of your 50/50 guesses, sometimes you lose to a warden because of the 50/50 guesses. That's skilless and I'd like to see no dependance on a 50/50

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I personally feel like 50/50s actually do take quite some skill in the mind-games factor! Sure, Warden can force a reaction, but if you guess correctly he gets punished all the same. Some examples: - regular SB->side dodge and GB - feint into Gb->light attack - charged bash (or warden's valor in this case)->either wait and parry or side dodge and GB After all the only way offense can be viable in this game is either through mixups such as this, or very fast/hard to react attacks, that I don't think fit Warden's theme :)

Mege I agree with you that in the rework you suggested it would be much more skill based and more like a mix-up than a coin flip like it is now. I just don't know, I'm a rep 12 Warden which is my highest and I feel like sometimes I win because my opponent guessed poorly and it makes the win feel cheap.I could just be wrong, but I like the idea over all. One thing I feel could help this rework is if you add Highlander-like Crushing counter on all sides of Warden. Less damage to balance it, more options for warden. Maybe something like 15 damage? I feel he needs just one more slight bonus in this rework and this would be an addition that requires good game sense and timing.

I kind of like these changes but if this would come then I want to see a massive GB window on missed SC. I mean that 25 stunning strike to 500ms light is crazy strong from SC. SC has already currently the biggest damage output from all of the dash unblockables and also lot of cancel options and that's what makes it still quite strong. So this would be a huge buff since the ability to chain it actually doesn't have currently hardly any value when not OOS. Also 500ms are fine but you'll have to remember that if you are doing the SC cancel dance all around you already kind of force the enemy to concentrate to the SC rather than where the omnidirectional light is coming from so I'm afraid that this would make him super annoying also. Altogether I always welcome all kind of changes and I would not mind even the Devs would roll in updates to try out even they would not be 100% thought out

I think this would be a good rework for him.. I like the way you can do multiple things with SB, adding some techniques to the warden style ! Good work mege ! Try to have developers reading this, Maybe they will steal some ideas, instead of just setting lights at 400 ms ( yeah, i'm looking at you orochi ) .

Yeh you make a good point really, warden has always been one of those heros that I never got into, I think mostly because he's quite predictable so he's hard to play as. As one of the base character I still think he deserves a rework like others have had before and I would say I would be more inclined to picking him up again had he had these much better features. And I would like to give orochis a run for their money xD

Here’s my rework : Side lights are now 500ms His chained side heavies are 35 and top 40.... the top has hyper armor but the sides are unblockables without hyper armor that can be soft feinted into gbs. His top cant be soft feinted tho. Buff the speed of his heavies in chains too so it really pushes swordplay instead of sb, like highlanders chained top heavy... make wardens top heavy that fast with hyper armor but his sides unblockables that can be soft feinted and are just as quick. This makes him more on swordplay than sb. Make the top heavy track back dodges or side dodge attacks if you get scared of unblockable. Make sb no longer feintable so it’s more of a commitment.... however you can still gb and charged sb tracks dodging characters and only guarantees top heavy if wallsplats and side unblockable chained heavy if it hits without a wall. Make this more rewarding by making it a mindgame thing. If they dodge regular sb then gb will catch them... if they dodge attack then charged sb will track with hyper armor but since it only guarantees 35 dmg it’s not really as good as swordplay Sb now counts as an opener for your chains. So you can sb into side unblockable or top hyper armor. Only top light is guaranteed from sb but can be dodged kinda like lawbringers 50/50 This makes it more mixup oriented instead of cheesy guaranteed dmg. So if someone has been dodging your top light after sb you can throw a top hyper armor or side unblockable both which can be soft feinted into gb. Remember only chained heavies have these properties. Make his side heavies off of neutral do 35 dmg just like chained heavies I think it already does but just to keep consistency. Crushing counter now only 40dmg light and you can flow into your mixups like sb that’s guaranteed but no mixups after sb are guaranteed to work. Basically same property as regular sb. Top light is guaranteed unless they dodge. Make his zone now two parts the first as the animation already is and the second part like another swing just like the first but much slower that you can soft feint into top light or sides therefore it’s a good opener for mixups. And since his kit will be hitting more often drop zone dmg to 15 since the follow up is gonna be really powerful because you can soft feint the second attack into any light direction and then into your mixups. And yes I mean soft feint the second part of his zone. Like a second attack that can then be soft feinted into another attack not just zone into light. Zone into second part of zone that can be soft feinted into light. Emphasis on that. Second part of zone can’t be feinted only soft feinted into lights and since his sides are 500 mms it’ll actually work.
