This is my absolute favorite Andy Garcia movie, and I’ve seen them all. An amazing and inspiring journey to freedom, fabulous music, and a heartwarming love story. I love Andy Garcia but his performance is not the only thing I love about this movie. I’m so happy it is available here so I can watch on my iPad when I’m not in front of the television.

Would have been better to have the movie in Spanish originally. But still, it's an underrated movie. Definitely turned me into Arturo Sandoval and Irakere music.

Grew up loving Irakere back in the 80's here in The Netherlands. All made possible by Arturo and friends...respect!!!! And what an excellent film :) Andy Garcia's best ever part if you ask me.....

I loved this movie. I was born in the USA but I used to hear stories about what it was like to live under Castro's regime from my parents and grandparents...all of whom were fortunate enough to escape and make a life here. And what's even scarier is the fact that some of the things they described can be observed happening here in the USA, but that's another story for another post.

I wonder what American musician will be in a movie like this real soon. Communism is coming to America my friends. We can either choose to fight it by any means necessary or we will fall into the darkness

jazz is communist Arturo doesn't understand that but it should have been his job to prove it. In a way he did but doesn't realize it.
