For Sale: Conn 12B & Olds Special; Nice Vintage Trumpets

This video features a Conn 12B from the late '30's - with its nice, copper bell; some call this 'The Coprion'. The Olds Special (from around '60) is one of my favorite models. With its Nickel-Silver bell and Bronze tip, I think it can produce a very nice, unusual tone. In the cornet version, the Olds Special is indeed special, and it can be in the trumpet version as well.

This Olds Special, in fact neither of my Olds horns, have cases. This one isn't in quite the good condition of The Olds that I have in another vid, but it is quite a good player too. So.... can the Olds Special Fullerton be considered a fine trumpet as to solo or church use? What about price? Thanks.

A good Olds Special could definitely be used in church for solo work or with a group. Vintage horns probably merit individual judgement, as some are in much better shape than others. The Olds Special trumpet is a very nice instrument - but I think the Olds Special cornet is sublime. :) My Olds Special cornet is probably the one instrument I have that is not for sale. :) Thanks for commenting, and have a great weekend!

@@JonathanMilam1 thx for your feedback. I purchased a new 1997 Stradivarius and made the ultimate mistake.... I came back to the trumpet in 2021 using a King 600 and as you may understand, it’s not the same... but I don’t have $3K at hand...!!

@@cmorales5 I fully understand. Some old, vintage horns can produce a gorgeous tone; one has to watch for good valves, slides, etc. And the Strads are shockingly high, aren't they? Here's a beauty for just over $1,050... This one is tempting me. A spot of redrot, but I've had worse. And it has the valued 'Corporation Bell' AND is a lightweight bell too... So tempting!
