I played the heck out of Creatures as a kid, and I have a vivid memory of sitting in my first biology class in high school and having my mind BLOWN learning that ATP and ADP were real things that worked in real life just as they work in Creatures. It's a bit silly but before that class I mostly saw creatures biochemistry as just a complex game-mechanic that I kinda-sorta knew had parallels to real biochemistry, but I really gained an entirely new appreciation for the games as I progressed through that class and realized just how spot-on they were. There's still just nothing in the world that simulates that level of detail and it's fantastic.

Yessss I was the same!!! I was also so young when I started playing so I pronounced triglyceride as "Triggly-seride" for an embarrassingly long time lol.

Maybe you could try The Bibits. It's quite promising, with a brain panel that you can open up to see how the creature takes its decisions.
