He was a gifted opera singer. I admire his dynamics control this live performance. Moving from piano to forte back and forth so smoothly. He made it way too easy. Plus, his French diction was impeccable and only rivaled by basically French singers.

His version is very touching. He's the king here. No one else matched his French repertoire (Russian, German ... so many languages in his repertoire). I've heard a lot of recordings. He is unbeatable. Someone can match his level, members of the elite club - one or two people. It is impossible to be better. I read that he used the Appoggio technique - the smile technique. I don't know, I saw a record where that smile suddenly disappeared. There was a problem, I didn't even notice. Suddenly there was another Maestro Gedda, a professional Gedda. He watched every tone, every phrase. I am not able to find the record again.
