Hiccup: Dad, there is something you need to know! Stoick: Yeah, yeah. Tell me on the way. Hiccup: This isn't an on the way kind of update, actually. Stoick: I've heard enough, Hiccup! Hiccup: More of the earth-shattering-development variety. Stoick: Yeah, just add it to the pile. Hiccup: Dad, unlike most surprises I spring on you, this is one you'll like. I promise. You just have to handle it delicately. So... Gobber: Uh, you might want to take this one. Oh, boy. (Stoick draws his sword) Hiccup: Oh. Uh, Dad, could you put the sword away, please? (Stoick sees Valka and gasps, drops his sword and takes off his helmet) Valka: I know what you're gonna say, Stoick. How could I have done this? Stayed away all these years and why didn't I come back to you, to our son? Well, what sign did I have that you could change, Stoick, that anyone on Berk could? I pleaded so many times to stop the fighting, to find another answer, but did any of you listen? Gobber: This is why I never married. This and one other reason. Valka: I know that I left you to raise Hiccup alone, but I thought he'd be better off without me, and I was wrong. I see that now, but... Oh, stop being so stoic, Stoick! Go on! Shout, scream, say something! (...) Stoick: You're as beautiful as the day I lost you.

though I wonder what the other reason why Gobber didn't get married...

@@Mistifying568 I have a few headcanons. He's gay, he's in love with Stoick (maybe Valka too), he doesn't have the part required for children (may lost it to a dragon some way), or maybe he's aromantic and doesn't want to get married to anyone.

Would you consider releasing a version without Gobber's interjection? I want to cry properly to this song but Gobber keeps butting in.. Even so, this is amazing! I love Stoick's deep violin

bro what you talking about we all know Gobber butting in is the best part

Gosh, this is like number 3 in my top five of HTTYD music/songs. Honestly, the orchestral cover is nice and all, but personally I've always liked the vocals of this one the most!

I love that in the medley, this brutal end is a direct transition to Stoick's Ship, as in the movie, the event is rather sudden and shocking. You express the emotions so well !

There are parts of Stoicks ship that mimic the melody of this

I was thinking the same thing!! I was listening to the soundtrack of HTTYD 2 last night, listening specifically for intricate themes and what they mean. When I started Stoick’s Ship and heard this melody in the soft, slow piano, I almost started crying. What a beautiful score, once again orchestrated by none other than John Powell.

You guys have no idea how much I love this song ❤ Let's be honest, this is one of the best love songs that we'll hear in our lives 💖🥰 Also, just hear it makes me feel a lot of nostalgia when me and my cousin started to watch the first two movies and we became fans of HTTYD, I remember that the first time that I heard this song, the 7 years old me cried, and then after Stoico's death, I had to tell me cousin to pause the movie. I was so dramatic Lmao 💚🖤❤

So glad that this was able to get onto Apple Music even with everything else that happened. Words can't really convey the way you feel towards someone or something, but this song is pretty dang close. Thank you.
