This is an excerpt from the full symphonic medley I did of the How to Train Your Dragon soundtrack. This piece is prominently heard in the Viking funeral of Hiccup's father, Stoick. Who was sadly passed away after saving Hiccup from an alpha-controlled Toothless. Stoick gave his life in the process.

Every time I watch this part in the movie, I cry. You did such a great job with this track. I can hear the grief that Hiccup is feeling at the beginning of it, but the determination at the end is so full of hope. Wonderful job!

I’ve probably commented this on a ton of Stoick’s-Ship-related videos already, but the thing that gets me about this scene and this score, is the fact that Eret, Son Of Eret shot an arrow with the others, respecting a chief that was never his.

He became one of his tribe so it’d be natural for eret to do as such, to honor a chief he barely knew yet pay respects to, as a great leader and father and everything Stoick was.

it was this song that made me realize a movie character that I had grown to love had something in common with me, finally. this is why Hiccup is one of, if not my favourite, character aside from Merida (for different reasons) because we both lost our dads granted in vastly different ways, mine passed due to pancreatic cancer and stoick passed from a blast from Toothless, but regardless. This song, this scene, hold a place of importance in me and I GET hiccup's feelings here- anyone who's lost a parent/parental figure gets him in this scene.

Woow😥😭❤ this really hit deep in my emotions😭❤ Im a proud viking descendant and very open spiritually just as my viking ancestors were and now that im a grown up young man, i really feel connected to them even more and i really feel their love for me and i feel how proud they are of me for continuing their legacy. I feel like my viking ancestors are right there with me when i close my eyes😭❤ Im tearing up because i feel their love ❤ Someday i know the valkyries will come to bring me home to valhalla to my ancestors when the time comes. ❤ When i pass away of old age i wanna be layed on a viking ship set on fire and sent out in the sea. 🏹🔥⛵

When I hear this song, I cry in memory of my fallen family members who have moved on to the realm of the angels. No matter how much I wish they never left me so I could have held them one last time, this song is making my soul feel like they are there in my heart alive and are comforting me to tell me that it's alright. And that they will see me on the other side. God I miss you Auntie Yma Uncle Carl Karen Grandma Brenda and Grandma Leila. This is what I want playing at my funeral and what I will ask is to be burned on a boat flowing down the Detroit River with a shawl covering me and a cross of Jesus Christ resting on my covered chest with professional and elite archers firing flaming arrows at my body like they did with Hiccup's dad.

May they sing your name with love and joy so we might hear it fall from high heaven and know that you've taken your rightful place at the table and kingdom of Queens. For a great woman has fallen.
